Layoffs are a result of the current economy. After receiving pink slips, many moms and dads are spending more time at home than usual. For some parents, the down time is an opportunity to reconnect with their kids, for others it is sheer stress. Has your family been affected by the economy?

Yes, I was laid off in April (took effect as of July 1st). I was on maternity leave, so I ended up going back to work just for the month of June.
It was really upsetting to hear, but in the end, it was absolutely for the best.
1I have had to choose to quit or be so stressed and unhappy right now. So I have left my job because my pregnancy is wearing me out. My job does not hurt me or the baby, but is very physically demanding. I'm so tired my the end of the day I don't have energy to clean the house or even take care of my daughter. This is very upsetting to me. Hopefully I can find work elsewhere, but for now I am not.
2My husband was laid off in July. It really has been for the better because he was miserable in his job. He's now back in school to get his teaching degree and is coaching (he graduated with a degree in a political science - but wants to teach match). He's so happy! He's finally on the track he wanted to be on. Money may be tight for awhile, but his happiness is worth it!
3Sadly enough my husband and i were BOTH laid of the week before Christmas. Both of the small companies we worked for went under.
4oh my gosh shannikan, that's really too bad
my husband is self employed, and i don't work
outside the home. because of the ecomomy i'm looking for a job, but there aren't any.
my girls are in private school and there was a meeting at the school last night to discuss the financial impact on families and advice on what to do to get through this recession/depression. i was really surprised at the number of families that have lost a job (or 2).
500,000 jobs are being lost every month now, it's pretty scary.
5My aunt (mom's sister) works for my dad. She had been saying really nasty things about my parents to me (talking bad on the nanny, how money is used, them being very chummy even after divorce).I repeated these things to him. WELL.That week she was conveniently laid off while her assistant still works there.Crazy. But of course I choose my parents first.

7thankfully not my fiance and i both have our jobs
8While both my husband and I are not out of our jobs, I had to chose "Other" because saying "No — We're in the clear" makes me nervous. You never know what will happen, not matter how well your company is doing or how comfortable you are.
9Fortunately my husband still has his job (and I'm a student), but we've definitely started spending less and saving more just in case he were to lose his job (knock on wood!). This economy is just so unpredictable right now.
10My best friend's husband jsut got laid off. she's preggers w/ twins and they have a 9 month old. it just sucks for them.
