My baby is due this month, just a few days after the full moon. But I've heard that the full moon could cause me to go into labor. Should I tell my mom to fly in a little early?

Some folks say that a full moon may mean increased birth rates, but I couldn't find much data to back the theory up.
The book The Lunar Effect, brought the "biological tides theory" to the forefront and the author, Arnold L. Lieber, argued that the moon affects the human body in much the same way as it does the world's oceans. This means that if a woman is close to her due date during a full moon, the pressure caused by the moon's effect on the water inside the amniotic sac could cause it to burst. And even though a recent study has said that birth rates are definitely not affected by the moon's cycle, some women still swear by it.
My expectant friend's OBGYN told her not to get her hopes up about it so maybe you shouldn't either. Let's see if any lilsugar readers were born or gave birth on a full moon.

I have no idea if the moon was full when I went into labor with my second, but I'm guessing not since I'd been on meds to stop labor for weeks. *lol*
I know the ER was always crazy on full moons, and the L&D nurses would prepare for a rush as well. But there's always the power of suggestion.

4Funnily enough my friend gave birth yesterday, but I don't think it had much to do with the full moon:)
5I went into labor during the last full moon, and the nurse told me that all the inductions they had scheduled for that week were coming in "because of the full moon".
I still wasn't too sure, but then my friend had her baby yesterday, after going into labor during the full moon...
6my younger brother was born on a full moon in 1988. All of the L&D wards throughout San Francisco were past full so my mother was put in an ambulance and carted across the bridge to give birth in Oakland!
7My sister and I were both born on a full moon so my mom swears by it. The L and D nurses told her they can always tell it is a full moon without looking out the window because they are so crowded. She's betting my baby will be born on March 11th (full moon) instead of around the 18th due date. We'll see.
8I've never heard of this. You can usually find some shred of truth in old wives' tales because they had to start somewhere.
9I had my little boy on a full moon! I also got the last bed in the hospital because there were so many people that went into labor that night!
A nurse even commented "The full moons always bring them in!"
10I had the same experience as many of the ladies above; I went into labor 3 days early with my second, and arrived to find the l&d ward completely full. The nurses all said it was because of the full moon... Kinda funny to think of having enough amniotic fluid that it becomes tidal, though.
11My sister is a nurse in labor and delivery at the hospital, and she notices a boom in business around a full moon. But she notices it more when the weather changes, that's when they fill the department.
12I believe in this theory. I also know that full moons create a lot of anxious energy among residents at nursing homes (off topic, but somewhat related). I worked at one for a short time and I'm telling you things were just nuts during full moons. There was a definite pattern.
13My son was born on a full moon! He was over a week late and my body was (or may have been) just waiting for the moon's effect to get things moving.
