Sometimes you have to meet your kid in the middle. My daughter is pretty easygoing so when she asked for pink hair, I knew I'd be able to talk her into something a little less appearance altering. At four and a half, dye was out of the equation even if she pressed, but I was willing to cave on a wig. Then, an attachable pink hair piece caught her eye while we were passing Claire's at the mall. For $6, it brought a shock to her locks, me a peace of mind, and everyone was happy.

good call, Lil!
I was hell bent on dying my hair pink in 9th grade. I did... and while my parents weren't thrilled, I didn't drink, didn't do drugs, had good grades, and played sports... I think they realized pink hair wasn't the end of the world.
1haha, I wanted to dye my hair purple but my mother threatened to shave my head if I did. Looking back, I think I would've gotten over the purple hair long before it grew out so I guess she did me a favor!
2i went and got my hair done around the first of dec. and when my hair was drying my stylist ask bella if she wanted pink hair. at first i thougt..OMG..all of her hair. then i saw it was just pieces. i thought..what harm is it gonna do? bella ended up choosing purple. so my stylist used her flat iron and put them in her hair. she had them for about 3 weeks. i ought put a pic in my album. it was cute. it came out nice and simple when she was tired of it.
3wow Lil its like your in my life!
My daghter (at 4) asked the same thing.
4I bought the little hair spray color once and it was HORRIBLE! Thank god I only sprayed a small peice and not the whole head of hair like she wanted!
Then I went to Clairs for something and "TADA!!!" saw my savior!
Is it wrong that I want the pink in my hair? I have all boys so I doubt I will get to have this fun.
5yes, i pick my battles with my strong willed 7 year old. as in, she is allowed to float on her back and spit water (pretending to be a whale) occasionally during swim team practice as long as she has no behavior issues in school. she is also allowed to wear extra fancy accessories to the grown-up mass (read 14 hair ribbons/bows/barrettes) and bring a doll, because she has to sit for an hour (or more) and be very quite.
6I want it for me too, macgirl. I actually almost bought a couple for myself but only found them like a week before St Baldrick's.
7Greggie your hair may almost be long enough now to attach them and look festive
8Good thinking! My 7 year old would LOVE this.
9I found the purple hair spray from Halloween the other day and sprayed my daughter's hair. She loved it! Why not do something fun and a little wacky once in a while?? I was the coolest mom on the planet in her eyes that day!
10My sons use a colored spiking gel often. They just aren't allowed to wear it to school per the school dress code. But for parties and during the summer, it's pretty much a given.
11About 18mths ago my now 5 1/2 yr old was obsessed with getting pink in her hair. We eventually caved and the stylist dyed a little bit at the front. The only problem was, she didn't listen and went purple. Lucky that is my daughter's other favourite colour. It stayed in for about 6 mths and now she is over it.
12I hope you have some pictures of that! Too bad they don't cover gray hair...
