when I was pregnant my OB told me it was safe to have sex, but when my water broke 7 weeks early and we rushed to the hospital the 1st question the nurse asked was if hubby & I had had sex recently.
1Makes me wonder
woohoo! 5/5, not bad for a mama to be
2Yaaa. I know about sex.
34/5 Not bad I guess.
4I miss pregnancy sex. I would bottle it if I could.
5katiekat, that's because sex can initiate labor... it's called "italian birthing." (no idea why 'italian'....) But i've always heard that it can't cause premature births, your body only responds to the hormones and the action if the baby is full-term.
6katiekat, the nurse was asking about recent intercourse because semen can affect some of the tests that are done in that situation. It isn't that sex is bad, but healthcare providers need to know about it during evaluation so that they can make the correct diagnosis.
7Sex can stimulate pre-term labor, but only if the body itself is preparing as well. The same goes for all "home remedies" (although caster oil has a high incidence of causing problems that them lead to pre-term labor). It can speed things along, but it won't stimulate a body to labor unless it's producing its own readiness as well.
But like nobodymuch said, they ask that as a given much of the time, because of testing.
