I'm posting because quality childcare and education are one of my biggest concerns as a holder of an ECE degree. As a former nanny with a college education, I can tell you that you'll find MUCH higher-quality childcare through sites like Nannies4Hire.com and placement agencies than places like Craigslist. Good nannies can be found on Craigslist, but you have to do a lot of sifting through crap.
I have to say that $130 doesn't seem like a high fee at all, especially when you consider that a qualified, legal full-time nanny is going to cost a minimum of 4 times that per week. For the love of God DO NOT CHEAP OUT ON YOUR NANNY. You really do get what you pay for. If you want to do something that is lower-cost, contact your local college or university's education or career placement office; typically they have folders or bulletin boards for students to find these kinds of jobs. Sometimes you can even find 2 students with different enough schedules that they can do a job share.
And remember, when you've found your dream nanny, run a national background check. Any reputable childcare provider should have no problem submitting to that.

1we found and trained a couple of our nannies, others had special education certificates. we have a severely autistic child and it really doesn't matter how many degrees the person holds if they don't "get" your child and have the patience to work with them. we didn't find any through an agency or a site, but i guess it depends on the available nannies and your area.
