The key to your lil one's heart is sometimes the same one that starts your car. Unfortunately for your tot, your car keys are not a toy. Instead, give her a set of her own "adult gadgets" to hold, shake, and suck on. The On the Go Activity Set ($15) includes big plastic keys and a cell phone that makes fun noises and lights up, just like mommy's — only they can't accidentally call 911 or set off the car alarm. While the items may not be the same as your car keys and iPhone, she'll love imitating you.

My son has 2 toy cell phones but all he wants is the real thing. He also has a baby laptop, but nothing is as good as the original!
1mstrauss, my daughter's the same way. Play phones, play remotes, nope. It needs to be the real thing.
2I just got a play remote control for the baby this Christmas. While he does love the real thing the remote has been a very good alternative. He has never held my iPhone or real keys so I don't think he knows the difference on those. He did get an Elmo cell phone that he is pretty funny with though. He holds it to his ear and makes my heart melt every time
3My daughter has a cell phone and a set of keys. The keys are disney princess or something and are more realistic, and the cell phone is all clunky toddler. I didnt think shed go for them, since she's never been a substitute type, but the cell phone says hello and goodbye, and plays a cute chime, so she likes it.
4I like that idea. When I worked at a preschool, before I started teaching older kids, we used to take old remotes and old cell phones to work so they have something to play with. The toddlers in the other building even loved that as well. If I had the means, I'd definitely give my child an old cellphone, remote, walky-talky or whatever instead of buying a plastic version -- they know the difference! Plus, the real ones are cooler =P
5My daughter has my old cell phone, an extra set of keys, and we even got a second remote from the cable company. She won't touch them, she needs the working ones. *lol*
