A three-year-old born with cerebral palsy was gifted a miniature pony from his grandfather. A form of equestrian therapy, Sam Spliteri's daily rides help him with simple tasks like feeding himself and improving his speech. Though he has ridden his pet that lives at his home since he was a baby, the town of Caledon recently received a complaint from a neighbor.
Since the property is not zoned for livestock, the family may be forced to give up the pony and the child would have to say good-bye to his best friend. Sam has seizures so it is almost impossible for him to commute to other horseback riding facilities.

I wish them luck. I understand that it's against zoning regulations, so I feel obligated to side with the laws just as a principle, but I really wish their neighbor would have just kept her mouth shut. What kind of woman takes away a disabled boy's pony that he loves and relies on to ease his condition? Maybe we don't know the whole story. =(
1Its the law, no matter what. We have no idea the circumstances, whether or not the neighbor had to put up with the smell of horse sh*t or an unsightly barn.
2Maybe they're going to sell their house soon and don't want to lose offers because of the smell/sight.

2) I'm inclined to agree with the law, though if this issue ends up appearing in a court, I hope the Spliteri family ends up with a sympathetic judge.
6This kills me. I'm very much about playing by the rules but I really feel for the family.
7I hope the boy gets to keep his pony. It breaks my heart to think he would have it taken away.
8While I personally know how horrible it can be to live in a large city (LA) that wasn't intended for livestock and have your neighbors have stinky animals next your fence. I still feel bad that a private compromise couldn't be made for the sake of the child.
