Diaper pails are hard to get excited about, until you find one that really gets the job done. The Diaper Dékor Plus ($40) is a garbage pail that will leave any nappy slinging parent bursting with excitement (well, as much as it is possible while holding yet another soiled diaper).
This handy and compact diaper disposal system can hold around 40 diapers (if you dare) all while fighting to keep your wee one's room smelling fresh. The step-and-drop design keeps little fingers out and the scented liner is easily removed with the built in bag cutter. What's more? The refills are biodegradable! Long gone are the sausage making days of the Diaper Genie, the Diaper Dékor takes the dirty work out of getting rid of messy diapers.

I just clicked on the link for this product and read some of the reviews. When you sort by lowest rating first, you find that there are quite a few people who bought this product when it first came out and have since changed their minds on how they feel about it. Apparently they used to have bags that were not biodegradable. Since changing to the biodegradable refills, they haven't been as pleased with it's odor protection. Plus, as one reviewer stated, what good is a biodegradeable bag when the diapers in it are not biodegradable? A lot of reviewers seemed to feel that this product would be better if they switched back to the original liners. Just as a heads up.
1I'm not a fan of diaper pails in general. A lot of my friends said they were a waste of money. We got one for our shower and we tried it, but we found it was just easier to toss the dirty diapers outside in the big garbage cans.
2That's what we did, just tossed them in the trash. The diapers don't smell until they started solids anyway, so they just went in the kitchen trashcan. Once they started to smell, they got tossed into the outside trash by the back door.
3We have the normal (old) Diaper Dekor and while it worked well with odor the first 6 months, once our son started eating solid foods, the pail didn't do such a good job with keeping the odor contained, especially when you have more than 10 diapers in there.
Also, with light diapers the top doesn't always push the diaper into the pail, which allows the smell to come out.
Overall, a decent pail but not perfect.
Are there any that keep the odor contained after a certain time?
4I use the Diaper Genie II and it does an OK job for the most part. If there is a really stinky load in there you will get a odor wafting out every time you put a new diaper in the pail but once that passes the room doesn't smell. Putting them out in the trash might be better if that is convenient for you. My nursery is extremely far from the outside garbage cans so it wouldn't be an easy disposal for us.
5I have the diaper dekor plus and I LOVE it!!! It is basically like a garbage, but with an extra cover underneath the top to keep in the smell and baby hands out. It is super easy to change the bag also when it is full. When you put a new dirty diaper in, you can sometimes get an odor from the diapers in there, but the same will happen with a regular garbage can and I do think this dekor keeps in the smell the rest of the time. I would tell anyone to get it!
6I dont really see the need for a diaper pail anyway, espeically if youre looking for something to keep the smell down. Its fairly unhygienic to be breathing in all of that anyway. Just toss the poopy diapers outside into a large trash can.
