Most everyone has memories of their turkey days growing up. Every one of mine was spent surrounded by family — sometimes in Georgia, but most times In Texas. Post chowing down on broccoli and rice casserole followed up by a sampler plate of pies, we all fell asleep in front of the college football games and waited for the Dallas Cowboys to take on the Houston Oilers. Afterwards, a heated game of tag ensued with my cousins in the backyard.
As people grow their own families, old traditions sometimes fall by the wayside and new ones are often started. Tell mommy about your family traditions in the comments below.

This year will be the start of a new tradition for my family. We'll sponsor a rescued turkey and chow down on tofurky and other peaceful dishes.
1Every year my mom cooks and we celebrate at her house with my dad's side of the family.
2This is our first year with our son, so we will have to start some new traditions. Family is far away, so we are pretty much alone. I think we'll start the day with the Turkey Trot for sure. Whether we make a small meal for ourselves or go out remains to be seen.
3my sisters and i always help my mom with the grocery list and with the actual cooking. i don't know how things will work out this year with my sister being a new mom and on her own.
