Yesterday marked a historic day in American history. No matter how the election pans out, it will be momentous. This was the first time an African American male was a contender on the Democratic ticket, and the first time a female was part of the Republican ticket. To be a part of history in the making makes me proud and patriotic. I was thrilled to have my daughter along to experience it all.
Seventy-four percent of you said you would take your child to vote. Did you?

Took the baby along. The older girls spent the day with the grandparents.
1I tried to afix an "I voted" sticker to the baby for a photo op, but my husband wouldn't let me. "This is serious stuff" he said, "she can't vote."
Yes. I went once with the baby while the boys were at school, then we tagged along while my husband went and brought the whole family.
anniekim, the polling place put a sticker on the baby and a couple of people in line didn't like it either. *lol*
2I took my son when I voted early just because we do pretty much everything together. Now it's actually sinking in that he was with me when we voted for the first African American president...ever! I am so proud of my city (Chicago) and my country today, I'm glad he was a part of it, too.
3Took two of the kids, husband voted with the boy and I voted with the baby. They got "I voted" stickers and were oh so cute.
4yes i took my daughter, and got the sticker for the photo op...it was history, it needed to be recorded.
5Nope, I ran out early in the morning and my husband stopped by on an errand.
6I took my Little Dude and he was stickered also.
7Of course! My two year old and my 7 week old came with me on a walk to our polling place. The older one kept saying, "go blote."
8I just found out today that it wasn't legit to let them help you vote by pressing anything in the voting booth. My mother worked the polls yesterday and it was one of the rules they had to enforce.
9Interesting. Does that vary state to state? Because ours actually encouraged the kids to help.
10I don't know about other states but this was California. I know you're in CA as well so that's odd. I don't even understand why it would be an issue in the first place.
11My 3 year old came with me - didn't have much of a choice since I wanted to get done before everyone got off of work (I thought there might be some long lines!). He didn't really understand what was happening but he too got a sticker and helped me put my ballot in the box! He then told Daddy when he got home that we went and "boted" today!
12I voted absentee, but would have taken my son to the polls if we were in the states.
13Took my 9-week daughter to the polls with me. We voted and then got two I voted stickers. I can't wait until she can ask me who the candidates are!
14macgirl, how did I not remember you were in California? *lol* I think they must vary county by county because I know we had different ID and campaigning rules from other Californians I know as well. Also, I got the feeling our polling place wasn't all that worried about strictly following rules.
15I voted by mail ( long lines in Ohio), but both of my daughters knows who was running and their running mates. My 8 year old was so excited when she found out who won, and my 3 year old loves to say "Yes We Can"!
16There were two grade-school aged kids with their dad at the booth next to me. The little girl kept pulling on her dad's sleeve and whispering, "Don't forget to vote for Barack Obama!"
