A Michigan woman in support of John McCain turned Halloween into more of a trick than a treat for Barack Obama supporters and their tots who went to her door. Using the opportunity to push her political agenda, Shirley Nagel handed out packs of M&M's stapled to McCain/Palin collateral only to those voting for the Republican ticket. She said there were no handouts for Obama supporters, liars, tricksters or kids of supporters. Parents and neighbors were outraged.
What do you think about this woman's use of tots in her tactic?

Well, this woman seems kind of horrid.
I believe her choice of forum to be inappropriate--foolish, self aggrandizing and unnecessarily divisive. Her political statements were hardly well crafted or considered.
But, if she did have a sign on her lawn with her restrictions she must have been easy to avoid.
1Any crying children are the responsibility of their parents.
crazy doesn't stop for a holiday.
2She's bonkers. I think this is just mean and kinda insane-looking. I think isolating children based on their political affiliation (can kids even HAVE an affiliation, really??) is just another sign that this election is going too far and is dishearteningly divisive.
3Upon watching the video, it seems the whole neighborhood is full of (not quite as) crazy people. First of all, no kid is going to cry because someone asks them if they support Obama. They don't even know what that means. Maybe a kid would cry because their parent made a scene while trick or treating, or maybe because their parent dragged them in front of a news crew, but no kid would cry because some idiot lady asked about the presidential race. Also, your Obama/peace/candy for all sign is just as lame. It's Halloween, not campaigning!
4If these adults would like to act like teenagers and duke it out, they should do it on their own time. Not during what is supposed to be a fun night for their KIDS.
Crazy!
5I agree foxie. that lady is nuts though, but I just wonder if it would have gotten that much attention and people talking about it on the news if it was an Obama supporter
6This woman is teaching those kids an important lesson. If you lie and say what people want to hear, you will be rewarded. : O Y :
7Oops. Here's my smiley:
8That is just ridiculous. We saw plenty of Obama pumpkins and political signs in people's window but nobody actually spoke of it or withheld candy from innocent kids. That's just mean... and crazy.
9I think it is ridiculous! Kids cannot control who their parents vote for, it isn't their decision. Also, they can't even vote. Why turn a fun holiday into a ridiculous political campaign?
10I made jokes about this. I'm a Republican and I made a joke that one house had an Obama sign up and was trying to reel kids in with Sour Punch Straws and another house that had like 5 Obama signs up wasn't giving out candy and I said it was because they were democrats, but that was all in fun and joking, to seriously do something like that is ridiculous.
11Any person, Republican or Democrat, who withholds candy from certain children because of their parents' political affiliation or the wrong answer to a puzzling question (because, let's face it, 8-year-olds aren't political experts) needs a good crack in the teeth.
I know you don't think children wouldn't cry if they were denied candy at a young ages because they answered a question incorrently, foxie, but then I think of myself as a child. I probably would've cried because I wouldn't understand what I did wrong and why this woman was teasing me. Because really, that's what she did-- teased and tried to make an outcast out of a bunch of kids.
12I didn't say they wouldn't cry because they were denied candy. I said they wouldn't cry immediately after being asked if they support Obama, which is what the mother in the clip was claiming.
13She should come and live in NY, they'll pelt her with eggs.
14I'm not even going to play the clip because I don't want to get completely pissed off. Is this some sort of support for McCain since there is no way in hell he is going to win that state. She needs to relocate to Texas or Arizona with that bullsh*t.
15Thats pretty much the dumbest thing I've ever heard of. First of all what do kids even know about politics, nothing they don't understand whats going on with the election. Second, there not even old enough to vote so doing this is just pointless and making everyone dislike her.
16This is painful to watch. The sheer audacity this woman had to pull something like this off - to turn away children for their parents' political affiliation... ridiculous.
This story is nearly as bad as the guy who renamed his newborn baby Sarah McCain Palin behind his wife's back while she was still in the hospital. :

17!!!!!!!!
I wish i would have came across this lady friday! I would have forgotten I was a mother and boooyyyy......
18lol, most kids would be like "what's a mccain..what's an obama". yeah, a bit odd. sounds like the site of a future egging.
19"I wish i would have came across this lady friday! I would have forgotten I was a mother and boooyyyy....."
20Which I'm sure is the sort of sterling parenting that made this situation escalate to the point where children were crying..
sounds like the site of a future egging.
No doubt! =P
21lickety--I bet you're right!
As a mother I would have avoided the house at all costs (not that the cost would be high).
22I'm not an undecided voter and neither is that woman.
I didn't watch the video for the same reason Wadewifey didn't, I know I'd be completely pissed off. This woman is ridiculous, what a crazy, mean b*tch!
23I had a strange feeling that something similar to this would happen. I pictured a kid dressed as Obama for Halloween and being turned away. This incident is even worse.
Shirley Nagel is a meanie poo-poo head! I have an idea Shirley when Obama wins how about you relocate to a desert island and she can take the 23% of Texans that think Obama is a muslim with her.
24I obviously would have not said anything to alarm my children..or anything to make them cry! Like the mother in the video said her daughter was crying because she thought the lady was mean. If my 4 year old would have been there and the lady would have told her that she would have cried too!
25If that would have been the case you better believe I would have told her something...maybe even sit in front of her house with a huge Obama sign to annoy the crap out of her.
I can't wait for this sh*t to be over.
26I had some type of idea of how stupid people would react when Obama came in the picture last year...but I would have never thought people would take it thiiis far!
27Wow, why take the fun out of Halloween for the kids? That was mean and so unnecessary.
28how the hell does this woman know who is and who is not an obama supporter
wade not every texan is a mccain supporter i surre as hell a not
OBAMA 08
29She has every right to hand out candy as she likes. I have every right to laugh at her house in the morning when it is completely pelted with eggs. Seriously, I would love to see the follow up to that, you know she got egged! Regardless of your beliefs or political agenda that's just mean and a bit out there.
30I totally agree
31I saw this on the news and the crazy b!tch was saying obama is scary... you know, like halloween scary. I hope she got egged! ugh! what do kids and halloween have to do with politics? she just wanted attention...otherwise she could have just put up a sign saying "no candy".
32I saw this on the news and the crazy b!tch was saying obama is scary... you know, like halloween scary. I hope she got egged! ugh! what do kids and halloween have to do with politics? she just wanted attention...otherwise she could have just put up a sign saying "no candy".
33Really.. thats campaigning.. FAR FROM. Kid's don't vote and thats just wrong to make them cry.
34She probably lives like the lady in the Simpsons, with about 100 cats.
35I see the McCain supporters are doing a wonderful job at reinforcing the "mean old man" image so many have of him.
36She's nuts.
37"I agree foxie. that lady is nuts though, but I just wonder if it would have gotten that much attention and people talking about it on the news if it was an Obama supporter"
I should hope the hell so...especially considering FOX covered it, I would be surprised if it wasn't.
This woman is even worse for opening her doors to anyone, if she felt that strongly such that she was okay about HURTING KIDS feelings on a HOLIDAY for her candidate, then she was better off not giving candy to ANYONE, and if it had been an Obama supporter doing the same, I would be just as disgusted with it, as should ANYONE with more than 2 brain cells to rub together.
This wack job expected to do WHAT..exactly...by behaving this way?
What a nasty, spiteful, horrid woman.
38This election has turned so many people ugly. I read horrible comments on message boards of people calling each other names just because of their political affiliation. I am a democrat, but am friends with republicans. We don't care about that, because we are fellow human beings first and foremost. I think many people are forgetting that.
39BTW I think this woman needs some serious mental help if she is punishing innocent kids. I pity her and I pity her children (assuming she has any), she will probably teach them to discriminate and hate.
40She's a mean, old, nasty hag that needs to ask her doctor for some paxil
41Psychopath ... though I agree that Obama sign was lame. Why stoop to her level?? It's Halloween! Leave your political sh*t out of it!
42I thought Halloween is supposed to be fun. Kids don't have anything to do with this, they can't even vote. What a witch!
43"crazy doesn't stop for a holiday."
44This is sooo funny - people are utterly ridiculous!
BTW - the follow up to the story is another neighbor with a McCain Palin sign in her yard said that after the kids were turned away (and some did cry after being refused candy in same lovely way that lady said "too bad, everyone has a choice") they came to her house and some were afraid to approach or asked when they got there if she was a mean lady too not giving out candy to Obama supporters and the lady said no and gave everyone some.
She managed to teach kids the lesson that McCain supporters are A-holes - not something that is going to help him win an election, but then maybe that is why she aimed the lesson at those who can't vote?
45How did this get on local news?? Some neighbor called the station to report her and they sent someone to investigate??? At this point in the election they will put any idiot on TV!
I agree, I can't wait for this sh*t to be over
46How would kids of trick or treating age know enough to be a supporter of either canidate? Secondly they can't vote so how is withholding candy going to help get McCain votes, this lady is silly!
47what a b*tch
48I really dislike crazy people!
Im not going to watch this clip - but this woman is out of her mind but whats really scary is that there are many bat-$hit crazy ppl like her out there.
49
.....well that went over good didn't it...
....come on...that is NOT the time to be pushing your opinion on others...granted...there is a time
for a good debate....but never with children like that. what did she teach them? NOT A DAMN THING!
