Dashing out on Halloween night often leaves lil time for dinner. But filling up your children's bellies with a meal prior to trick-or-treating cuts down on the candy consumption and sour stomach. If you're looking for fast options, steer clear of the drive-thru and choose something more healthy like a vegetarian pizza on wheat crust, burritos or gyros.

I'm making Monster Mouths for dinner. Jumbo shell pasta stuffed with ground turkey and turkey bacon and then using veggies and cheese as decorations to make them look like monsters. I always make something like that for dinner, last year it was meatloaf made into a body with ketchup blood.
1Whether we eat or not (and we usually do) we don't allow candy as we're Trick or Treating anyway. Eating beforehand doesn't cut down on consumption because either way they're only allowed the same amount.
BlairBear, I'm stealing that recipe.
2BlairBear... I don't know that I could look at meatloaf the same way again!
3I have never considered pizza or gyros to be a healthy option. In fact thos are unhealthy meals that we only eat now and then to treat ourselves.
4Vegetarian pizza on wheat crust is pretty healthy. I don't see how it couldn't be. Regular pizza, yeah that's not a healthy option.
5gyros? healthy? in what world? please take me there!
