all three of my kids had it...the first and last child had wallabie lights bought home, my son had it for almost 2 wks, and my daughter for about 4 days. my second one we just took out side alot since he was born in the summer

5/5. My daughter had jaundice. It was kind of funny b/c the doctor told us and she asked us if we didn't notice that she was yellow....my husband responded that I was yellow so he didn't think anything of it.

5/5. All three of mine had it, the middle had to stay in the hospital when I left. That was the worst feeling in the world, and it made me hypersensitive to it when my daughter's level were high.

The photo, even "fancied up," makes no sense. *lol* The gauze is too thin to protect a baby's eyes and it covers its head.

My kids both had jaundice, but it cleared before we left the hospital.

Most children have it to some degree, like the quiz addresses. It's also more likely for c-section babies to have to stay because they're still in the hospital when it peaks, so it looks higher. Babies who go home within 24-48 hours usually aren't being tested at that 72 hour mark when bilirubin is highest.

My daughter had it and the hospital ignored us when we brought it up, saying that she was fine.. 2 days later she was back in the hospital with her bili levels at 29...i had severe blood loss that they lied about and left me with low hemo levels even after a few blood transfusions and never told me that it would affect my breast milk, so she screamed for two days becuase there wasnt anything there..the dehydration meant that she wasnt passing the bili thru her stool which caused it to flare up. It was overcast and winter, and the fact that she never slept more then 20 minutes meant I was in a state of exhaustion and shock, not to mention nearly unable to walk due to the blood loss and labor, as i would pass out, so i didnt see how incredibly yellow she had gotten utnil my parents came to visit and i emerged into the living room. she ended up in the nicu for 2 weeks under bili lights... the emotions of everything were almost too much to handle without adding the guilt of her starving to death becuase i had no idea to watch for it. Damn hospital was a death trap.

It occurs more in Asian babies and could also be from the mother breast milk. It usually takes one to two weeks for jaundice to filter through the mothers milk and the infant should be put on formula in the mean time.

Breastmilk jaundice is different from regular jaundice and doesn't carry the same risks. Jaundice due to high bilirubin levels is better flushed out by breastmilk than formula. Breastmilk jaundice is normal and does not require the stopping of breastfeeding.

In regular jaundice, whatever feeding choice has been made by mom is best to continue, be it formula or breast. If jaundice is due to mom's milk not coming in yet, supplementation may be necessary for a day or two, but that doesn't mean you should stop breastfeeding. If your milk is in and you want to breastfeed, there's usually no reason to supplement.

My oldest had it so bad, he had to have the biliblanket at home for 2 weeks and we called him glow worm, Poor kid.

My son had it... When we left the hospital the doctor told us he had to use the biliblanket at home. I was so relieved when he started to get better.
