The rules of parenting are constantly changing. Just last week, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommended that children should receive a daily dosage of 200 daily units of Vitamin D. As of today, the figure has doubled to 400 daily units. Dr. Roshini Raj tells parents about the importance of the supplement in the video below:
Before making any moves, consult with your child's pediatrician.

This is one of the great things about Southern California - no need for vitamin D supplements since we get the great sunshine.
1We definitely rock the sun. Was just looking at my 5 day forecast and I have three days this week that are supposed to be over 80 degrees. I try and do a good balance with the sunscreen to try and avoid the vitamin D deficiency.
2Hopefully this brings some awareness to the importance of vitamin D. Although they should've at the very least noted that the vitamin D you receive from the sun is a different form than you get from food.
I saw this report on CNN this morning, and their suggestions for vit. D intake included a tablespoon of MARGARINE. That's intelligence for you right there.
Greggie I'm jealous you live in southern Cal!
