The other night while accepting his Emmy, Mad Men's Matthew Weiner mentioned his three children, the first two by name and then referred to the third as "the other one" before quickly adding in a proper moniker. Whether the statement was artfully crafted or a memory slip, it's something to which most moms and dads can relate. Do you ever forget your child's name or call them the wrong one?

i don't have kids, but all i can say is: HAHAHAHAHA
my dad does the same thing my grandfather did with his 5 kids: he pulled the: "al,em,br,di...uhhh....annie" when he needed one of them, going through all the other names first before getting to the kid he meant to summon!
1I'm between "always" and "never." It happens sometimes. Or I call them by each other's name, which is payback for me giving my mom a hard time for calling me by my sister's name.
When my second son was about a week old, I called him Giovanni. His name's Giancarlo. *lol*
2Always. I have a very good excuse, they all start with an A. And my boys look like twins except one's taller of course. I just call then 'sweetie' and point, it's universal.
3all the time, not a big deal.
4Nope....not yet anyway.
5after having them cut out of my uterus, I don't think so!
6That's a man thing!
i call them by each other's names..especially when i get mad and i trying to yell at all of them.....lol
7Never but I do call them by the wrong names. Hey, there's 5 of them, 2 boys and 3 girls. It's bound to happen!
8This happens all the time to my parents and I. My mom calls everybody else's name before she get's to mine and I sometimes forget my friend's name. Honest mistake.
9Not with kids --- but my husband calls me baby and our cat is bailey, sometimes he must be looking at the cat and talking to me because he'll accidentally call me "babely"
10I don't think it's a man thing at all. If anything, I do it waaaaaaaaaay more often than my husband.
11Lol... no, although when I refer to my kids, I often just call them "The Boy" and "The Girl"... it probably sounds callous, but I've always done it, and it's affectionate. They don't mind. Lol.
12Are you kidding? ALL the time. I also call the dog by my youngest's name and call her the dog's name....
13My dad did (and still does) this all the time. My favorite was when he would call us "princess"... which was our dog ; )
14yes, this is why terms of endearment like "sweetie", "honey" and "baby" were invented.
15all the time i call my son my his sisters name and my daughters by their brothers name, lol i will even call them by my nieces and nephews names
16I've been called Andrea, Allysa, Jennifer and Matty by my mother, which are all my cousins' names, and Matty is a boy. Several old babysitters began referring to both my sister and I as "Mally" because they always got the names mixed up (we look nothing alike). My dad called me "Sadie"- The dog! And I've already got this problem when I babysit, or even with my friends. It's not really a big deal... It's not as if you don't love them as much if you use the wrong name!
17Hell yeah sometimes I don't even remember my own name
18it's a man thing in my family's case. my dad does this aaalll the time. he calls out everyone else's name before getting to the one he meant to say! lol. i can't remember the last time my mom did this.
19My mum and dad ALWAYS switched names when called for my sister or me. My mother sometime's even called me by her sister's name, which was funny. They're both really forgetful sometimes and since they were both working and stressed when they got home, I could never blame them for something like that which doesn't mean anything anyway.
