There's something about an electrical outlet that just gets the best of an infant's curiosity. As soon as they are able to crawl around, tots want to know what's up with those slots in the walls.
Most parents plug them up with the standard clear outlet covers, while some opt for tape. The folks at Decor Craft Inc. chose to liven up the options with these whimsical animal plug safety covers. Adults can keep their wee ones' fingers safe with a red dog, blue cat, orange sheep, or green elephant.
Here's my question — are they too alluring, to the point of harm where a child may be more inquisitive than usual?

While they are cute, I think it would make kids MORE interested in the outlets!
1I agree with gab, that's the first thing I thought of once I saw what they were for.
2I agree with GAB my kids would just be more attracted to them.
3hello, trouble!
4All that does is draw attention to them! Stupid idea.
5Yeah - I think this is nuts. No way would it not draw kids to the outlets. I can see using them to cover outlets in older kids room as a decoration, but not as a safety device.
6not a good idea....
7you could make outlet covers that were more attractive for adults (pretty design) but wouldn't attract kids like animal shapes would
8I don't think these will last on the market long they look so inviting. Kinda scary.
9I definitely think they're too inviting. The flat ones that match the outlet totally mask it.
We're lucky in that our house is wired to immediately shut down a circuit if a foreign object is inserted or if there's a surge to that outlet. It gives a sharp shock, but it's not life-threatening and ongoing.
10Just to make it clear, though, I do still use outlet covers.
11It looks like some of the animal refrigerator magnets that kids like to play with. No way am I getting that for my nephew's room or anywhere in my house for that matter.
12these are a cuter way to plug up outlets. some people may think of them as dangerous, but a child's small and nail-less fingers wouldn't be able to pull them out anyway. even if they could, they would probably bring it to mommy or daddy and lose complete interest in the outlet. it's hard enough for an adult to pull out an outlet plug, so people need to stop throwing a hissy fit about these.
