My oldest son is a junior, so obviously he's inspired by his dad's name. He has no middle name since my husbsand doesn't and we wanted him to be a true junior. My second son, we wanted an Italian name (my husband is Italian and our last name is quite obviously so), so I started searching right after having our first baby. I found his name on a website and did some research on it. It clicked for both of us from the very start. His middle name was one my husband threw in as a suggestion the moment I brought up the first name, and that also clicked.

My daughter is based on my father-in-law's choice if he'd ever had a daughter. We just tweaked it a little to make it ours, and changed it to the Irish version in honor of her mama. It still works really well with our last name, and honors my father-in-law while we're at it. Her middle name is hyphenated to be named after her grandmotheres.

I mean my grandmothers and my husband's grandmother, although one of the name's is also my mother's middle name.

And apparently I'm all about typos and misplaced apostrophes.

our lil one's a jr but we call him by his initials... i know names are a personal choice, but i really just dont think zuma and nesta... zuma nesta... it doesnt flow for me as a name... (for a child) i think zooma zooma zoo w/the first and i think of lunesta w/the second... and i think either of them would have been fine alone as a first or middle name... but together... i'm just not a fan & now we're gonna havta hear about lil zuma nesta along w/kingston (who's name i think just ROCKS)as much as we hear about all the other oddly named celebrity spawn...

If my daughter had been a boy we would've had initials as a nickname as well. We didn't do it for my son because then he'd be VJ and that's vagina slang. *lol*

I totally agree about Zuma by the way.

My daughter is named for a woman who cared for me when I was a child and a dear friend I deeply admired who sadly died young. I tell my daughter I gave her the names of two people who inspired me to honor her and them (and she says 'yeah ma, whatever').

We don't have kids names yet, but all the names(but one) we've picked out are family names and people in history.

We wanted our son's initials to be a combination of ours since I'm Jennifer and my husband is Michael we wanted an MJ (or JM) combination of some sort. Plus since our names are SO common we wanted something at least a little different and we came up with Milo James.

I definitely thinking about knowing my first son Kennedy (it's cool, not a lot of people have it). I was going to name my daughter Ava Scarlett(my favorite actress and I love Gone with the Wind), but Ava is way to popular now. I also like Athena Claire, i love Greek mythology and my mom likes the name Claire. But I got a while to go so it might change.

We also came up with Francesca Claire if we ever have a girl (we didn't find out the sex of the baby when pregnant with our son so we had to be prepared) after 2 of our grandmothers.

My husband is a junior, but we weren't sure about having our first son be the third (hope that makes sense), so we went with a name we just liked and agreed on. His middle name is my maiden name. My daughter's name is the Italian version of my first name, as my husband is Italian, and her middle name is my late sister-in-laws middle name. btw, wadewifey who's baby is that...he (I'm assuming it's a boy) is beautiful. My son sleeps like that sometimes, mouth all wide open and my grandma likes to joke he's going to catch flies like that. lol

That's Zahara Jolie-Pitt. I thought it would be funny as an avatar cause she's sleeping but her mouth is open like she's talking. Ya she's is catching flies. :roftl:

We named our daughter Kairi. lol, I actually first heard her name on a video game, Kingdom Hearts. Its prounounced Ky-ree and I just really loved it. I researched it and it is a real name, its japanese and it means sort of a nostalgic feeling, sea village of my ancestors. My husband liked it, so we went with Ann for a middle name as my mother, my mother in law, and I all share it.

oops...lol...I guess I don't know celebrity babies as well as I thought I did. But then I don't remember seeing baby pics of her just the more recent ones.

MissSushi i have a little cousin (13) who's name is Khari. It's pronounced the same way. He's a boy though and I'm not crazy about it him, but it's cute on a girl.

I wanted something semi-unique and beautiful. I was going nuts for a name.. So I opened up a Vogue and told myself the next page I turn is going to have my daughter's name on it. And I turned the page. There it was: Chloé. And that made perfectly great sense because I love Chloé shoes.

(The name was also on my father's side twice, although I didn't know them.)

Wade: I dont think id like it on a boy.. I dunno, maybe becuaes ive only heard it as a female name, it just seems really feminine to me.

We haven't named our daughter yet, as she's not due for another month, but we've chosen her name. It's a Classical name (I studied Classics and ancient history in college), it's a good feminist name, it's even a good scientific name, which pleases my husband. Also, it's recognizable but not popular, and it's easy to pronounce. Everything we wanted in a name. Oh, and it's pretty, too. Her middle name will be Jane after my MiL who passed away shortly after our engagement. It's also my mom's middle name, and after a dear family friend who died last year when she was way too young.

(I deliberately left out the first name as we're not telling yet!)

I wanted a nerdy name, my husband wanted an outdoor-sy name........ My husband looked up the Periodic Table of Elements, we reviewed the names and !VIOLA! the man that discovered Nickel had a great name and now my son does, too.....my son's name is Axel....I hope he's a nerd that ROCKS!

Girls names were harder for my husband & I to agree on when we were pregnant. Plus we were getting pressure from both grandmothers to use a family name and some trendy names. We had done lots of genealogy and liked some of the older names like Ella, Rose and Viola. My mother was pushing for Taylor. We finally settled on Grace from a step-great-grandmother on my husband's side and then my mother's middle name Louise.

I don't have kids yet, but my husband and I have had names picked out for a while For a son, we will probably go with James Miles (James is my hubby's name, as well as my mother's maiden name, and Miles is my father's name, as well as my grandfather's middle name). For a daughter, Graceyn Hale (Graceyn is a little girl we used to babysit, and we LOVE the name, and Hale is my middle name and my grandmother's maiden name.

hey i recently had a daughter on 8/18/08 n we named her Galaxy Oceana....Galaxy cuz my husband is into planets n stars n well star as a name is PLAYED OUT. n i never heard of some1 named Galaxy so i wanted to be the first to name my lil girl that....teehee. as for her middle name i love swimming n so i was looking for names that relate to water.

No little ones yet, but my boyfriend and I do talk about names for our future children. His last name is Layne (pronounced Lane), so we joke about naming our first born daughter Penny. Other than that, the names we have picked out are mostly literary.

I came across our son's name, Theon, by chance and then looked it up to make sure it was a 'real name' (I didn't want to be too out there) and shared it with my fiance. He was rooting for Odin or Dante, and I wanted something more sweet and French (Pierre, Antoine, Maxime/Maxim) but we agreed on Theon. Its a real Greek name, and francophones do use it more than anglophones so that's a bonus =D and then his middle name is Thomas.....kind of after my very cool uncle but also a name we agreed on for the baby's first name and then decided it was too common. (After a comment from a nosy coworker )

my daughter is named Jessalynn Christine. Jessa, her daddy just liked it and I liked that it wasn't in the top 1000 names! Lynn is my middle name and my mothers middle name. Christine is after her Uncle Chris (husbands brother) we were going to give her the middle name Faith the whole time I was pregnant, but when we were filling out the birth certificate form, it didn't feel right to me. I mentioned Christine or Elizabeth and daddy picked it, so wahhla lol

Since daddy pretty much picked her name... the only thing I did was combine Jessa & Lynn to Jessalynn instead of giving her two middle names... we've agreed that I get to pick the next ones name. If it's a girl her middle name will be after my sister or grandma, if it's a boy - after my favorite uncle
