Parenting books can be overwhelming as everyone has a different opinion on how to best raise baby. One suggests holding your baby all the time and another says that will spoil him. Some advocate co-sleeping and others says it's a big mistake.

Since there are so many philosophies to choose from, we want to know how much you know about the subject!

Hmm, I know so little about who said what and yet she's a happy, healthy 12-year old now. I went to Spock and Brazelton when I needed info - both were very reassuring about how much we actually know.

I'm obviously a Sears fan, but I have respect for some of the others, Ezzo completely excluded.

Dr. Ferber cannot stand that people call it Ferberizing, though. He's also generally pretty middle of the road. He was put on this pedestal as being a doctor who is against cosleeping and totally for crying it out, and he's since clarified again and again that it's not true. If parents want to cry it out, he has a educated method for them to do so. But he doesn't think it's the only way to go, and he doesn't think cosleeping harms anyone either. I think it's great that he educates people without guilting anyone, even if his crying it out method isn't one I'd ever use.

The one who doesn't recommend singing wouldn't like us, though. *lol* Singing "Uncle Noah's Ark" is the only way to soothe my daughter when she's screaming. You try to swaddle, swing, or shush her and she'll scream louder.

Singing is the only way to get my son to sleep....usually lots of singing. One of the ones we sing most is "Take Me Out To The Ballgame". I do believe he'll fall asleep during the 7th inning stretch when we finally do take him to a baseball game. lol Smiling
