Golden boy Michael Phelps made Olympic history and his mama proud. Now, Debbie Phelps who has rooted her son on his entire life is being honored. People said:
Johnson's Baby has dubbed Debbie their "Mom of the Olympic Games" — and the company will donate money in her name to children's causes. (She'll also film a commercial for Johnson's on Wednesday.) The award came as a nice surprise for the middle school principal, who tells People, "I am so honored."
While the swimmer's achievements awe people all over the world, the wins are particularly inspiring for children with ADHD. The winningest Olympian was diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder at nine years old and got help. When teachers told his mother that Michael couldn't focus, she took them to task explaining that he spent hours in the swimming pool. Obviously, his passion paid off with 16 medals.

Debbie is a very dedicated mom!!! Michael is a dedciated swimmer!!! Together they made it a point that no dream or goal is never too out of reach for children with challenges they may have!!!!
1Sooo sweet! I ALWAYS see her in the audience cheering him on and when he's done with his races the first person he goes to or waves to is his Mom.
2you KNOW she is so proud of him.
3It is wonderful to see how close he is to his mother and sisters. She raised him well and you can see the pride shine through her eyes during the games. Congratulations to her for being honored.
4it is a nice story, but he's all grown up now. i'm more impressed with shawn johnson. at 16 she has remained poised, gracious and upbeat throughout the games even with cameras in her face following a mistake or the loss of a gold medal. to me that is an amazing young woman and i think her parents share the credit. i don't know how she held the tears back a couple of times, and her older team mates have not been nearly as gracious.
