Do You Have Mom Guilt?

Whether you are a working mother or stay-at-home mom, sometimes there aren't enough hours in the day to bake cupcakes for preschool, read bedtime stories, run the soccer field cheering for your favorite lil player, and have intriguing conversation over a healthy dinner. At times, mamas have to let something go or take some time for themselves.

Do you feel bad when you let something slip or take a mommy trip?

Rarely. I mean, if I forgot a big soccer game or something I'd feel bad, but I've never done anything like that. People, even those without children, forget stuff and need time alone.

Someone once told me "Being a mom is always feeling guilty".

I feel guilty about maybe 1/4 of the time. But then I stop to think about what my mother would do or how she would feel... Or I think about how I would want my daughter Chloé to feel if she were in my shoes. And then I don't feel so awful.

..most of the time I'm on top of the mom thing, anyway. Smiling

I have "mom guilt" and I don't even have kids yet! I feel guilty for not spending enough time with my dog . . . Then again he's got the nobody-loves-me face down pretty well.

When you're a single mother it's sort of affects you more because you're trying to fill in for the missing parent. My son's father passed away three years ago and since then I've tried my best to be involved in most of his activities, school functions, etc... but sometimes there aren't enough time in the day to do everything. My son is 10 years old know and pretty much has an understanding that I can't be involved in everything. But I always have time to sit with him to help him with his homework and school projects and make sure that we always have dinner at the table together to talk about anything and everything.

I have to work and although I would love to be a stay at home mom, that just isn't in the cards for us right now. My son enjoys daycare, I think. I am able to watch him during the day so that makes me feel better. But when I do feel guilty, is when I get stuck here at work after 5p, then I see him on the video and it's only him and 2-3 other kids. That breaks my heart. I know he's ready to see me and go home. Sad Overall, I spend all my time with my little stinker! Smiling
