Trendtotting: Nail Polish

Suri Cruise was spotted out and about with some fancy finger paint. The sassy 2-year-old flaunted some red nails while shopping with her mom, Katie Holmes, at Bonpoint Boutique in New York. While the blue-eyed brunette is quite the uptown girl and we wouldn't be surprised if she had her own manicurist, any lil lady can get this celebaby look with a bit of help from her mama.

Stick to a toxin-free polish as tots put their fingers in their mouths, and a thin brush is best when coating tiny nails. Suncoat Products makes a line of water-based, organic, and eco-friendly polish ($9) that are quick drying and long lasting. Available in 32 fun colors from mango to apple green and berry to peacock blue, your daughter is sure to find her perfect shade.

I can't wait until my little one is old enough to understand and have fun doing this. I saw Angelina's daughter had scuffed nail polish on in the new twin pictures, so it must be perfectly PC and world-hugging to do it, too.

My daughter is four and she just asked me to have her nail polished.
I don't know if I should are not. I don't want her to be to grown up at a young age. Also she bites her hails.

This one they talk about above sounds very safe, though. I think it's just playing at being a grown up - like with tea sets and putting on mom's shoes - and will not be like putting her in Dive In knickers! If you spend a Sunday putting it on in the morning and letting her have fun with it on, you could even take it off that night.

Dana, the nail polish might actually help to curb her nail biting. If she has pretty nails she might avoid biting them b/c that would "mess" them up. You never know... Smiling (just thought I'd throw that in)

It wouldn't shock me in a few years time if celebrity babies wore makeup.

How cute! I see nothing wrong with painting your child's nails as long as she wants it done. Growing up my mother used to paint my nails shades of pink and red (during Kindergarten) then as I got older she let my choose which shades and taught me how to paint my nails. I will do the same when I have a daugther.

I personally don't like little girls in bright nail polish. My daughter is 8 and is still not allowed to wear dark colors except on very rare occasions.

I personally love it! I think it's great for the "girly-girl" to come back. Growing up, I loved what little time I got to spend with my mom doing girly things. I can still remember going with my mom to pick out my first pair of dress shoes that were NOT mary janes, but looked just like hers!

My mom got me to stop biting my nails by letting me paint them (or rather, she did the painting) so I don't see anything wrong with it. However, I do feel that shades of pink or even clear polish are a little more age appropriate for 5-year-olds than say, black or deep red! Smiling

Heck I think even Bonne Bell makes some pale pink polish especially for little girls.

damn people are so sensitive, it's just nail polish! it looks cute, dark red is dark for a little girl, but I have nothing wrong with little girls wearing nail polish.
