Babysugar Diaries: Paige Maternity Jeans

Many mamas-to-be find denim too restricting, but jeans suit most occasions so pregnant women get a lot of bang for their buck when they invest in a pair. Paige sent me a pair of Laurel Canyon maternity jeans ($185) to review and since I am a fan of their regular jeans, I was excited to give them a go.

After washing and hemming them to my liking, I slipped on the swanky dungarees. A perfect fit on the tush and legs, I was thrilled to look hip in (gasp!) maternity jeans! Constructed with 98 percent cotton and the remaining percent spandex, the black stretchy belly band starts where a normal button and belt loops would be and rises to just below the belly button leaving no room to bare your burgeoning belly or bottom.

While some maternity jeans pull all the way up to the bra line and look unsightly on the hanger, they do keep the belly from looking pinched in half. When wearing tight shirts with my Paige jeans, I can see the line where the band stops. For slim mamas–to–be that's not a problem, but for mothers who are more cushioned, the split may be a tad too much. The seam didn't bother me too much though because I went out and purchased another pair in white and between the two, I hardly wear anything else.

While I love Paige Jeans I have a hard time forking out the money for pants I can only wear for a couple of months.

I didn't clink on the link but I'm guessing they're way outside my price range. And maybe I'm just unfashionable, but I didn't find Motherhood/Mimi/Pea in a Pod jeans all that unhip. They were jeans, they looked exactly the same as my regular jeans. Even found a pair at Shopko that I loved. *lol*

I prefer the lowrise until the last two months or so, then I have to have the ones that come up to the bra line. That way they don't have the unsightly line break across the abdomen.

My favorite maternity jeans were from Target. They had the adjustable waist instead of the stretchy panel and were so comfortable. I definitely can't see spending a lot on maternity clothes when I only wear them 3-4 months.

My daughter's six months old and I still wear my maternity lowrise capris pretty much every day.

My maternity jeans were the best piece of clothing I ever invested in. If I did a cost per wear analysis, they probably would end up costing pennies! I'm with you BabySugar!

i ebay'd my maternity jeans... and i got them for like $40 - $50 for a pair. i LOVED the habitual adjustable waist ones (in the beginning... then i got too huge to close them) my 2nd favorites were 7's BUT i also got the sausage belly... (the line across) i wound up opening up the waist band & pulling it OVER the belly (completely unattractive but it worked)! they were THE BEST clothing investment... i felt cute in them and that's huge when you're HUGE

My favorite pair was my Gap Long and Leans. I loved them so much that I can't wait to get pregnant again just to wear them! Smiling

My husband got me these jeans for Valentine's Day - I was 6 months along at that point. I loved them. That's an understatement. I LOVED them. I wore them almost every day. My only complaint is that the band was a little low in the butt - nothing like seeing pregnant lady crack! Too, and perhaps this is because I wore them every day, they split in the crotch at about month 8. I was devastated. I loved them so much, I'm now saving my pennies to buy a nonprenant-lady pair.
