Jon and Kate Plus 8 Say Aloha and I Do in Hawaii

It seems that the family that tapes together, stays together. Our favorite tensome, the Gosselins, were spotted in Maui filming another episode of their TLC show, Jon and Kate Plus 8. While on the island, Jon and Kate renewed their wedding vows outfitted in white and wearing leis.

Though the couple probably never imagined how their life would turn out at their first nuptials, the eight attendants — Cara, Madelyn, Alexis, Hannah, Leah, Aaden, Collin and Joel — put traditional bridesmaids and groomsmen to shame this time around. When you think about the love that leads to marriage, you can only imagine the commitment that comes with making it down the aisle again.

The eight attendants might have helped solidify the commitment this time. There's got to be a lot of satisfaction in seeing those lovely little faces and knowing how much they count on you.

How much money do you think they're making on this show now? A Hawaiian wedding?! Granted, TLC is probably fronting the cost for it, because it's obviously being filmed for the show. But, I don't think that Jon really works anymore, right? I think there was something about him working with one of their friends, but I bet that's just a cover. They have to be RAKING it in. I mean, did you see that house they looked at on Monday nights show?! Dayum!

I still love watching the show, but I feel like there has been some selling out lately. I can't say that I would do it differently because I don't know what it would be like to be their situation, but I don't know that I could subject my children to being filmed as much as those kids are being filmed. Just my opinion...

They have mentioned on the show how lucky they have been to get to do the things they do. So I am sure TLC makes all the arrangements for them 8 kids are expensive. It is great to see the commitment they have to eachother and their family. I hate kids but I do enjoy watching the show.

    I love this show!!
and it's been on for quite some time now

As far as their expenses, everyone who's in contract to be on camera gets paid, so that's like ....10 checks.

(I'm sure 8 small ones, but still)

Luckyme, I wonder how much they get paid too. I admit that I love the show and would be so sad if they decide to end it, but as the kids get older, I wonder how long they are going to continue. Imagine those kids in kindergarten (which is probably only a year away) - can you imagine how the parents of their classmates would feel if their kids were being filmed while the sextuplets were?

On one hand, I respect Jon & Kate for doing the show, because it clearly allows them to spend more quality time together without Jon working. But on the other hand, I wonder how these kids will feel in a few years when the realize that complete strangers watched their childhood on TV?

In regards to the other topic started here... personally I am fine if they are getting paid. It will not last forever and I bet they can take any help they can get while it is here. I don't think the other kids will be filmed when the 6 younger kids go off to school. How much do we see of the the twins' classmates now? I actually hope they are making some sort of living from their series. Most episodes leave food for thought for me and my hubby as we are planning for our own family.

I love this show and admire the family. I have read a lot about the family and the fact is that 8 children are not cheap and so the few things that they get to do that are amazing like go to Maui are much deserved, being paid for this show allows them to worry a little less and enjoy their amazing family.
I only hope that this experience will leave them in a position to continue to care for their children they way they have... Right on Jon and Kate- keep up the good work!

I hope they're making a lot of money - TLC sure is! It doesn't seem illogical to me that they get a good percentage of the earnings, after the all the show is about them!

Can't wait to see the episode, the kids look so cute!

It would be surprised if they werent getting paid! Jon & Kate Plus 8 us the highest rated show on TLC.

Jon and Kate, IMO, are doing an amazing job raising these children. They are VERY WELL behaved and lovely. Im just happy they allow us to see a snippet of their day to day lives. They make it seem easy.

Kia - I wasn't trying to start anything. Really. Just curious more than anything else. I've been watching the show for quite a few seasons now and it seems that they are doing more and more trips and such. That could be for a few reasons - because the kids are getting to be a bit older and therefor easier to travel with and probably because they are being more generously compensated. I don't hold it against them in the least, like I said, I really like the show...I was just wondering.

It probably is easier to travel now that the sextuplets are older. They need all the money they can get, checks and donations, so all the kids can go to college. John is taking more vacation time but God knows he needs it and so does Kate. Even though Kate gets on my nerves sometimes, the kids are insanely adorable.

I adore this show. I'm happy that they are making money off of the show. Could you imagine the financial burden of putting all those kids through college?? I see it exactly as wadewifey3. Because of the show, Jon, Kate, and the kids can all do what I would imagine to be otherwise impossible.

I really love this show. They're great parents and just overall do a really good job of taking care of the kids and making sure they have "normal" lives.

I LOVE Jon&Kate+8!!!!!!! They deserve every bit of money and opportunity that they get from doing the show. Raising 8 kids has to be a daily struggle and I can't even imagine how hard it would be for them if they didn't have the donations and income that results from the show.

I imagine that when the little kids start school that the filming will stop or at least be a lot less. But I hope that TLC continues to follow up on them and do one-hour specials or something. I know we can't watch them grow up forever, but I would still like to know what happens to them even after they stop having a regular series...

I used to love Jon and Kate plus 8 but as the seasons have continued on, I like it less and less. It's great to see that the family has had opportunities (like going to Hawaii) that they wouldn't have had otherwise. But, the family has changed and not for the better. They seem to be living episode to episode instead of day to day. Their life appears to be more and more choreographed by producers and sponsors rather than normal everyday activities.

In addition, the social and emotional development of the children worries me. I am worried that the children will not know what to do when they aren't the center of attention. They have made comments that their friends at school watch them (Mady and Cara), and I don't think that is healthy.

I think it's wonderful that the family has received much needed help, but I feel like they need to temper all the wonderful gifts they have been given with some common sense on how to raise their children in the best way for their development and mental health.

Jon & Kate make $70k an episode for their reality show. Not to mention the large amounts of feebies (clothes, plastic surgery, organic, pesonal chef, house, appliances, vacations, etc.). They are not "struggling" to make ends meet with a family of 10. That's just what they want you to think. They have also continued to ask for donations and payments in their speaking engagements, where they decietfully tell people how hard it is to raise 8 kids and how they financially struggle to do so. Be careful not to believe everything you see on tv.

Very nice. One day, I think that Jon and Kate will have a family meeting with the kids when they're old enough to understand what this is all about. Right now, they are just enjoying all the perks, especially the traveling. Really, who wouldn't want to do get the most out of it for their family? I believe that when the kids voice their opinions one way or the other, Jon and Kate will respect and honor their wishes. I also totally understand how they thought that this would be a good way to footage of the growing years without taking awa from the quality time they spend together as a family. It is a shame, however, that all the hoopla has altered the course of their relationships with their family and friends. They have lost control of that aspect of their lives as a trade-off. I hope everything turns out for the best in the end.

I am sure they decided to do the show in the first place so that they could afford to raise their 8 children. Any one of us would have done the same, as opposed to struggling to clothe and feed them. They are not filmed every minute of every day. I read 3-4 days per week, and I am sure it is not 24 hours each day. Just enough to make the segments needed for a show.

As far as the vacations go, they are contacted by the resorts and invited to come as free advertisement. Who wouldn't jump on a free trip??

I love the show, and the kids are beautiful.
Go Jon & Kate Plus 8!!!!!!!

Wow. I can't believe how gullible some people are. Did it not strike you as odd that the only people in Jon & Kate's family who were at their "wedding" were people that hadn't seen them in like 20 years and that they obviously weren't close to and barely knew? Jon & Kate not only get everything for free, but they are now millionaires, and I'm sure the show and airlines easily would have given their immediate family a free trip and in the highly unlikely event that they wouldn't, Jon & Kate easily could have paid for it themselves. The fact that they didn't should confirm to everyone that there is something seriously wrong here. What couple that has 8 small children has no support from their family? Ever notice that the few family members they did have that actually helped have now mysteriously disappeared off the show? NOT a coincidence. These people have managed to alienate and destroy their own family relationships by prioritizing fame and greed, and their children are suffering for it being denied the company of their family. The psychological well-being of these children is being auctioned off to the highest bidder, and it's clearly already showing (in Maddy at least, in a BIG way) that these kids are going to need therapy ASAP (like, right now, Maddy). These people get paid a rediculous amount of money for their children, the least they can do is get Maddy a therapist immediately. This child has more than an attitude problem, it's a serious indication of mal-adjustment and a glimpse at what's to come. Also, they need to stop acting poor so they can keep getting freebies. Nobody's buying it. When your family eats completely organic, your grocery bill is multiplied by four (on top of what it already is), not to mention they have maid service and a personal organic chef when the cameras aren't rolling. PLEASE. The hypocrisy is astounding. I beg you. Jon, Kate, prioritize your kids. You've done enough filming, you've earned enough money, kick the cameras out of your homes and lives and start acting like a real family.
