Many of my childhood Summer vacations were spent in the South where fireflies lit up the night sky. I have a soft spot in my heart for the light-emitting bugs, which explains why I am swooning over this pair of hand-crafted LED booties. Made with denim, elastic, a battery, and light, the supplies are simple but the handiwork is impressive.
Winners of Craft's Michael Miller Baby Bootie Contest, husband and wife team Ana Pires and João Silva took the top prize. To see how to make these illuminating booties, click here.

babysugar,
I know exactly how you feel.
I recently visited my folks back home in Upstate New York and I saw fireflies one of the evenings I was there. They were hovering above the wheat fields.
I do not see them in California, so it was a very welcome sight and I miss everything New York.
The booties are so cute!

2I saw my first firefly on a vacation to michigan and had no idea that they were really like that
3I caught a firefly and tried to get my 16 month old son interested in it, but he could not care less.

I would love this for my little one, but I'm hopelessly untalented when it comes to sewing.
