Crystal Piggy Banks: Kid Friendly or Are You Kidding?

It was always my understanding that piggy banks were a tool to help parents teach their tots a lesson about money. I'm not sure if giving them a $595 Tutu Piggy Bank would drive home the point that "a penny earned is a penny saved."

The Swarovski crystal encrusted pigs, perfected with black lashes, are awfully charming and would certainly be a talking point in any nursery. But, would you spend that much money on a sparkly piglet?

I would love that for myself, but not for a kid!!

I still own a cheap classic glass piggy bank my dad bought me one day we were shopping in the mall -- it was $5 then, and that was at least 15 years ago.

A piggy bank holds the same amount of money, regardless of what's on the outside!

If I had $595 to spare, I'd buy a $10 piggy bank and put the other $585 in it for the child to save.

But if it were rhinestones, I'd have one in a heartbeat because I think it's adorable.

If I had a kid, and a lot of money, Id buy one. I think its soooo adorable, and kids dont usually know what things cost anyway so I dont think its teaching them a bad lesson.
