Leaving the maternity ward with a plump tummy and swollen ankles can make even the happiest of new mothers feeling a tad depressed. Most moms expect to exit the hospital feeling a tad more svelte as they shed an entire new body's worth of weight.
For those desperate to bounce back into a lean, mean mama machine, the Belly Bandit may be your best weapon. Eager mothers can use the compression wrap a day after delivery. The binding reduces swelling of the uterus and keeps the bloating from water retention to a minimum. Available in three different styles, Original ($40), Couture ($50), and Bamboo ($60), moms can adopt the stretchy Velcro bound wrap routine for six to eight weeks for tummy firming results.

can you get one even if your child was born 5 years ago? tummy firming is always good....
1sorry, sorry, had to ask.......
I was wondering the same thing but mine is only 6 months out.
They have a very
convincing website.
2Uh, no way! I was given the ugly hospital version of that after my most recent c-section, and it caused the most horrific pain in my back and intestines. As soon as I took it off I felt a million times better.
3Seriously?
4Yeah, I wore the one from the hospital but it would sometimes hit my c-section scar. However, I think they probably help.
5We get them for c-sections, too. Mine was a Godsend. I wore it a little lower than they recommended so that it was a few inches below my incision. It held everything in place and helped with that "floating organs" feeling I had with my first.
Unfortunately I had to remove it within a week because I had a terrible allergic reaction to surgical tape and having the binding on made it worse.
6Also because the binding held up my stomach, I got a lot less of a "flap" over my incision than I did with my first.
7I bought something like this from Rite Aid after I had my c-section. (I don't know what it was originally intended for- some sort of mid-section brace.) I barely wore it, but is there any difference between that and this belly bandit?
8Here's another option

9I'm so excited to see this product on here, i signed on just to talk about it. I used this product right after my birth because a friend told me about it and it was AMAZING. I felt better, thinner and was definitely more active than in my first post partum period. I hope this company does well because its about time a product like this was on the market. Definitely a thumbs up!
10Does the above comment sound like an advertisement to anyone else?
11Yes ann418.. anyway, im sure it would hurt for a c-section delivery
12babylove4's comment is obvious spam, in my opinion.
And I didn't find it painful at all for a c-section, although if misplaced it could be. But placed accurately, it never slipped and worked WONDERS for the incision pain. I hated not being able to wear it.
13i wore the Belly Bandit for 2 months and i found it to be really helpful after I had a c-section. my friend gave this to me as a gift. Before I wore it, every time I would cough, sneeze or try to sit up I thought my stitches would bust open. This band helped to hold everything in place. It also was way more comfortable when wearing pants because it stopped the rubbing against my incision. I also felt I looked better in clothes with it. I tried the babosh one, but it dug into my side and was more money.
14Yes! I forgot about the way it stopped the pulling on the staples/stitches, and put a layer between the incision and clothing.
Again, mine wasn't this, it was a plain elastic band. Just the same concept.
15Has anyone tried the Bella Band for the same purpose? I'm getting ready to deliver, and since I already have 3 Bella Bands, I'd like to use them if they work.
16I don't think Bella Bands are nearly as tight as these are. The website describes these as an "abdominal compression binder." They are really tight and put a lot of pressure on your stomach. Bella bands are just fabric.
17wouldn't spanx work the same way as this?
18wow... thanks!
19Spanx aren't adjustable like this is. As your belly goes down, you can bring this tighter for more and more support, rather than buying various sizes.
20Apparently if you are nice on these things you have no credibility? Sorry to say Ann418...I'm real consumer.
21No worries, but you have to admit it sounded a little suspicious.
22Belly binding has been around for a long time and is still faithfully used in other cultures. I'm currently pregnant with #5 and looking forward to using something like this postpartum...
23There are a couple of products out there for c section. Binding is definitely important and csection recovery is important for you and baby. Cotton breathes and massage is key. Support yourself so you can heal better. there are other belts that are adjustable and soft. Good luck- your worth it. My belt really helped my abdomen mend- good luck girls!
24i LOVED the belly bandit! After i saw it on the Ellen Degeneres show and Rachel Ray on the same day, I knew it had to be good! I looked around their website, which was full of helpful hints and very user-friendly. I called in my order and spoke to a very warm helpful woman, who helped me choose the bamboo bandit! When i first started wearing my bandit, I was really impressed with it, it gave me amazing posture, and I could feel it compressing, but I was still confortable wearing it. I wore my bandit all day, until I took a shower and went to bed. When I would put it back on the next morning, I could see and feel the improvment!! Thanks to the Belly Bandit, I will be back to my same size way sooner then I thought!!!
25I am pregnant with my first child, and could deliver any time now. I have read a lot about the Belly Bandit and all things sound great. I have read all of your comments and they have convinced me that it will be helpful, not just to get my uterus and stomach back into shape but to also help with back pain, posture, and swelling.
Thanks and will post an update after a few months:)
26I wish I had this 15 years ago with my first child. This time around I will definitely use it. Being 37 probably means things won't go back on their own exactly like they were before!
27does anyone know if they sell this band inside a retail store, i'd prefer to check one out b4 i purchase it; i'm trying to decide b/t bellaband, spanx and belly bandit; i want to choose the right one ; but i want something i can wear right now b4 i birth this baby and continue afterwards
28have not used the belly bandit, but i gave birth less than two weeks ago and have used a similar product. it's amazing how much my tummy has shrunk! i was shocked when i looked at myself in a mirror right after giving birth - it's like a basketball had stretched my tummy w/excess skin hanging out - my mom has this and i was more afraid of this than stretch marks. yes the product i have is bulky and now has deep wrinkles but it does provide good back support as well. I wear it over a belly band so that it's not as itchy. i'm definitely a believer in belly binding.
d anna - i wore a larger belly band at night right up to giving birth, it acted as a sort of "bra" to support my bump, especially when i slept on my side!
