In a world where science has made nearly anything possible, I shouldn't be surprised to learn about a 70–year–old woman who gave birth to twins in India this past weekend.
No proof of her age exists but there is no doubt that Omkari Panwar is older than most new mothers. Omkari and her husband, Charam Singh, are already parents to two daughters and five grandchildren, but wanted to have a son to maintain their family property.
IVF helped the couple accomplish their dreams by giving them twins — one boy and one girl. The babies were born via Cesarean section, weighing two pounds each.
What are your thoughts on the couples decision to have a child so late in life?

I’m a little reluctant to believe this story, I first read about this week ago in the sun and I think they are just as credible as star or the national inquirer. Where are the pictures of this woman pregnant?
1Without actual proof of the woman's age it's hard to believe.
2that's crazy!!!
3I read this story on another site, they showed a picture of the woman & her husband so I would say they are definitely older than sixty. Either way I think its selfish - neither the mother or the father will be around to watch the children grow up - who is going to take care of them when they pass on? I know its possible that they might live to 90 or 100 but they will be worn out how are they going to keep up with the kids?? I suppose at least the babies were healthy...that is always a plus.
4Gross.............
5Who is going to raise and take care of these children? Granted, i don't know what kind of health/shape the couple are in, but regardless, they're in their golden years. And I'm surprised a doctor did IVF on them, seems risky on such an older woman.
6how selfish can people be, look at all the health risks involved the children possibly born with downs syndrome or any other disability, which is very possible, no one will want to step up to raise children in this condition, unless forced or obligated, the older children will probably have to be burdened with these new additions, im sorry i sound harsh but how can people think only of themselves, i hope those babies were born healthy
7wtf is wrong with the doctor's who gave her ivf treatments? thats freakin gross!
8I really do try not to be judgmental, but this is just WRONG!!! It's not like they don't already have kids (even if they didn't this is just selfish). I fell sad for those babies. I can barely keep up with my son and I'm in my 20s. And they don't just have one baby- they have 2!
9Wow... Their other daughters are going to have their brother and sister to care for in addition to their own kids before long...
10Not that I'm embracing this trend but is there possibly a cultural difference that would make the family more OK with helping out raising their younger siblings? I really have no idea. It's odd that having a boy was that important.
11all of that just to have a son...
12I understand someone wanting to have a child, but at age 70 it's just an extremely selfish thing to do. They probably won't live more than a couple decades longer and they could be incapacitated for a good deal of that time, so it's not like they'll be able to properly raise and nurture growing children. They'll eventually realize that they were born to be pawns for the family.
13To bring children into the world at that stage of life so that you have a boy to inherit your property is disqusting to me. So maybe now the boy will be looked after because he has property, but what will happen to the girl?
14My ex husband is a muslim and always wanted a son. So when our 3rd daughter was born, he abandoned us for an ex-prostitute thinking that she could give him a boy. After 11 yrs, they now have 2 daughters also. Me and my children have been living in miseries this long just because of these people primitive thinking.
