If only children wore the suits in Washington. Second grader, Justice LeVecke, won a "Letter to the President" contest sponsored by musician and activist, Michael Franti. The precocious girl recently read her letter, which called for an end to war, at his concert.

that was so sweet yet so sad that a child in the second grade making her eight my daughter is eight and just passed to the third grade would be thinking about things that only adults should have to worry about, im sorry i hate what this president stands for and all his stupid judgments, its very sad that this child has the feelings she has, water gun fight that was cute and innocent, thank god only a few months left with this idiot, please no more republicans, i didnt want obama to win but i will take him over mccain
1That was soo cute and True!
2That was cute, I agree Pink - its sad that she would even have to think about this :-\
3Its sad that even young children realize that Bush makes poor decisions.
4The letter is exactely what I would expect a second grader to say. It would be nice if the world were fairies and fruitcake (well, maybe not fruitcake), but it's not. War is sometimes necessary, and some countries, like people, just don't want to be your friend. Talking doesn't solve everything.
5UnDave, i was thinking the same thing, about how putting her up there and having her read her letter was kind of a mute point, how cute, but what was the point? that kids are innocent? and they dont understand politics, and Mr President cant we use water guns? BUT than again, michael franti is a member of the green party and hasnt worn shoes since 2006, he isnt really interested in reality.
6Hasn't worn shoes since 2006? Is he really that poor?!?!
7he did it to protest something once and loved it. He must have some serious 7-11 feet by now.
8CaterpillarGirl, it's "moot point", not "mute point". Sorry, pet peeve.
I don't particularly agree with using a child who is uneducated in politics to pull on the heart strings for someone's agenda, but at the same time she makes a
wonderful point. I have a degree in political science, I'm a member of the armed forces, and still I greatly oppose war. Perhaps it's interesting that I was a great supporter of the war prior
to spending the past 7 years in the military - it was my direct experience, combined with the knowledge I gained from my poli sci classes, that led me to realize that the world COULD be as
peaceful and wonderful as this little girl describes.. if only human beings weren't so damn selfish and ignorant.
9Well said pink and aiyaruk!
10Good lord, a bunch of us just sat and watched this and at almost the same time we all said how obvious it was that her parent/s wrote this.
