Moms think they can accomplish the unthinkable and I'm no different. But, this past weekend, my carefully orchestrated plans were blown to bits. The things that unfolded were so ridiculous that they had me thanking my lucky stars when Monday finally came. My husband had been scheduled to work, I was to go to a bachelorette party in Los Angeles on Saturday, the kids were headed to my sister's house and then we all would meet back up at a family event in Marin on Sunday.
On Friday, I stayed up until 1:30 a.m. packing bags and writing pass off notes. I knew the next 48 hours would be a rat race, but with every detail planned, every pick up and drop off scheduled, I knew it was possible. At 4:45 a.m. I woke up to get ready to leave for the airport only to find that my husband was already up and had food poisoning. He was dehydrated and delirious so I told the shuttle to leave without me and we ate the cost of my non transferable ticket. (Note to self — mothers and nonrefundable don't mix). To see what happened, read more.
On Sunday, the kids and I headed to our family get together where all was well until I got a migraine and lost my vision. My relatives kept an eye on my son and daughter while I laid down — like a complete freak — on the ground of the picnic area covered in a beach towel and tried to regain sight. Luckily, I couldn't have been in better company. My aunt drove my car home and my mom stayed with us until I felt well enough to handle things on my own. My children had finally dozed off and I was just about to go to sleep when my son woke up and threw up all over our apartment. Needless to say, while it wasn't the weekend we planned, it was very eventful.

You poor dear! Sounds like the migraine was stress induced. That is a case of trying to do too much!
1Ah , it happen to all of us. It will be better next week.
2Oh my!! That sounds horrible. You lost your vision? That would have sent me over the edge and completely freaked me out.
3Whoa! I laud you for surviving that! I think I would have lost my mind the minute I had to tell the airport shuttle to leave without me!!
4That sucks. Best laid plans though.
I would've been really mad about the b-party though since it was nonrefunable...
5Yikes! Lucky you have so much family so close at hand!!
6That situation would have given me a migraine too
I luckily don't lose my site, but I do throw
