What better way to be welcomed home than with a kiss from the kids? This story may make you think twice about puckering up. A Hicksville homemaker lost her hearing after her daughter delivered a deafening kiss to her ear. The 4-year-old child's lip suction pulled Gail Schwartzman's eardrum out towards the ear canal and caused tiny ligaments to disconnect. While this was a rare and unintentional occurrence, doctors caution parents from kissing into their infant's ears.

I believe it! Several times my husband has accidently landed a kiss on my ear in the wrong place and it HURTS.
1That's so awful!
2I feel bad for both of them! Its such a shame, hopefully she can make some sort of recovery.
3Wow, who knew? I've done that before when I was little but never knew it could do any damage. I hope she will be able to recoup her hearing and that her daughter will not be scared to kiss people after this.
4I agree with foxie! My boyfriend feels so bad whenever he kisses my ear in a certain way, because it really hurts. I mean, not every kiss-on-the-ear is going to hurt, but in the wrong position it can be really loud and the suction is painful.
5I just emailed this to my boyfriend. He's always kissing my ear, and it's SO loud, it really hurts!! Hopefully he'll stop now.
