Trendtotting: Silver Cross Prams

Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony pranced their way through a People magazine spread — each pushing a Silver Cross pram that costs a whopping $2,900. But, when you're getting a cool six million for the shoot, I guess $2,900 is a drop in the bucket, though who knows if they even had to pay for them.

To see who else bought into the pricey trend, read more.

Following in their footsteps, trendsetting mama Nicole Richie and rocker Joel Madden posed for Harper's Bazaar with their babe in a Silver Cross pram.

On their website, Silver Cross boasts that it's been trusted by the British Royal family for generations. Well, if it's good enough for Queen Elizabeth, it's probably fine for Harlow Madden and Max and Emme Muniz.

But, if all the high falootin' Tinseltown mamas replaced their Orbits and Bugaboos with Silver Cross prams, there'd be enough LA sidewalk traffic jams to rival those on the freeways.

I think those carriages are super cute! I couldn't afford on or stuff it in my Civic, so I guess it will have to sit pretty in the store. Eye-wink

They look nice, but the cost is absurd. Some people have too much money.

Ridiculous price and they are only for show. I doubt JLo is pushing those prams down their neighborhood sidewalk.

I personally think that those prams are ugly. Not only ugly, but it is also gigantic and totally inconvenient.

Too rich for me, but I always thought there was something very gothic and creepy about them, anyway. shrug

I think prams are so cool - not entirely practical as they don't fold down as well as the more convertible strollers do, but I do love them. Never had one - wish I had though.

as soon as babies can sit up (6-9 months) they are going to want to see and that creates a problem with this thing. if the baby stands up it will tip it over, etc. the ones that the car seat snaps into are fab and cost under $30. the regular strollers are less than $300 and you can use them for years. this is silly.

In my opinion these only look cute on the Upper East Side (5th and Madison Aves) and in London. They look silly everywhere else.

Definitely not a practical stroller for todays parents. It looks like it serves as more of a photo prop than anything else. Silver Cross does make a nice model comparable to Maclaren which has much more parent-oriented conveniences.
