A friend told me that all babies look like their fathers when they are born and then mature to resemble their mums.
While that has proved true with both of my tots, I'm not sure it's always the case.
But, lil Alexander (Sasha) Schreiber is a brilliant example of it. To see why and check out the gallery to decide for yourself, read more.
Initially, the 8-month-old was daddy, Liev Schreiber's lil likeness though lately it seems that the small fry has taken on more of mommy Naomi Watt's soft features.
Which parent do you think Alexander resembles?

I think he is a great mixture of both parents actually.
1I've actually read that in an anthropology book or article somewhere. I think it's a theory, but makes sense. In ancient times, there weren't "paternity DNA tests", and if the baby looked like the father, he was more likely to bond with it.
2I've got to agree with faerymagick--he looks like both parents--a cutie.
Uptown-I've heard of that before, but dont' know if it was academic or old wives tale.
3Either way, it has held true for my oldest. She looked just a mimi me of my husband when she was born, but not so much now.
The theory certainly looks true in the two main pics! I think that Alexander has Liev's brow and upper lip, which present a strong resemblence. But as he gets older, fills out, opens his eyes more -- you can see he has his mom's eyes and full cheeks.
4They say in the wild babies are born resembling the father so that the father will bond with the child and accept it as their own. I don't think this little guy looks too much like mom, I agree that he has a mixture of both, but he did look more like dad when he was younger.
5well my daughter looked like me when i first popped her out but now at 6 months she is a mini-me of her father ...maybe that explains why they have such a tighter bond now than when she was first born!
