Every parent envisions their child's future — the type of life they will lead, which occupation the tyke will choose and what the tot will look like.
When it comes to height, some people look at their babe's foot size, birth height or a combination of the parents' stats. To see the predictor my pediatrician recommended, read more.
But, my pediatrician said that there's one way you can estimate your child's potential height and that's by doubling their measurement when they are two years old.
Has this method proved true for you? If not, which predictor have you used?

My mother-in-law loves to tell a story of how disappointed one of her sons was because, by using this method, she'd predicted he would be 6'2": he says he is 6' but I'd put him maybe at 5'11, probably slightly under.
1It's proven true in my husband's case.
2Not sure what my height was at 2 - but our doctor gave us the same tip. I hope it does because I have always been short (realtively speaking) for my family of all 6' people and our daughter is not quite 2 yet and based on her height now - she would be about 3-4 inces taller then her mom!
3I'm not sure how tall I was at 2, but I wound up being exactly 5', which is the height my mom is.
4My kids will probably be taller b/c my s/o is 6'1" (or 2") and comes from a family of tall people.... lol I really 'stand out' at those family gatherings
That method didn't work with my sis and me. When she was 2 years she was taller than me at the same age, and nowadays I'm 4 centimetres (1.6 inches) taller than her.
5My two year old is about 37" - so I'm going to have a tall one on my hands.
6I have heard this and hope it is true. If it is my boys should be fairly tall, at least taller than myself and my husband. I think my oldest would be 6'1" and my middle son would be about 6'.
7It worked for me when I was a kid. I am 5"10, which is what the pediatrician predicted when I was a toddler.
8Hmmm...I don't know about that because when my sister was a toddler she was at a normal height, even when she was in elementary school she was one of the tallest girls in the class....and now she is 20 and she's like 5 feet tall. haha
9I remember going to the doctor when I was like ten years old. He told me I was going to be 5'4. My dreams of becoming a model went out the window. And guess what? Today, I am exactly 5'4. Thank god for heels!
10i was going to be 6'0", and i'm 5'9. i don't think that's a very good indicator. i think an x-ray at about 10 could tell the doctor where the growth plates were and then they could estimate w/i an inch or so.
partysugar, your job now sounds pretty dreamy, lol. good thing you weren't taller
11I've never heard this one before. I'm going to have to keep track of my girls and see.
12Funny, kiki -- I am also exactly 5' and my husband is 6'1.
So far, my kiddos are all very, very petite. My eldest son is the shortest child in his class (even shorter than all the girls). He endures endless teasing over this, poor fella.
I haven't a clue how tall my children were at age two, but I know they've been comparatively short since beginning school. I keep hoping for a growth spurt, much like my husband experienced when he entered puberty.
13We did this calculation with my nephew when he was 2. He's always been tall, and at 2 we all predicted what he would be I predicted at least 6'7", he turned out to be 6'9.5". I don't remember what my own children were at 2 years old, but they're all pretty average, possibly slightly on the "tall" side of the scale. I'm short though lol
14Did not work for me! I was supposed to be 5'9"! That's four inches taller than I am. Where's my height? I feel short-changed. (Heh.)
