Who knew there were women that could put The Real Housewives of Orange County to shame? But, last night, my jaw dropped as I watched the train wreck that is The Real Housewives of New York City.
The new queen of mama drama in the Big Apple is Ramona Singer, a blond bombshell of sorts that makes it her mission to make her 12-year-old daughter, Avery uncomfortable. To hear about Ramona's antics, read more.
Between chatting up pole dancing techniques and the term MILF, wrestling and kissing a friend poolside and threatening to toss a dog in the water, the loud mouth momster was more than a viewer could handle let alone her self conscious preteen who sat looking on in disgust.
In an interview, the reserved Avery said her mother tends to take things a bit too far and acts in a manner that isn't "ladylike."
What do you think, is it Ramona's prerogative or should she consider her child's feelings?

I was just about to watch this on DVR. I never watched the Orange County one, but I was curious about this one. Maybe it's because I love NY and was curious about the life of these wealthy women. I wonder how exaggerated the show is?
1I have this in my dvr also. I love the Orange County show. I have a feeling this one won't be as good for some reason b/c the women will be too snobby. The Orange County women are snobby to an extent but they are fun!
2that show is a bunch of trashy rich women who need a reality check!
3I was absolutely appalled by Ramona's "antics"... I feel so sorry for her daughter, who even at such a young age seems infinitely more mature than her mother.
4aww, what is wrong with that mom? maybe with the show being on tv she'll be clued in that her behavior is hurting her daughter.

6I think most mom's would want their daughters to be like Avery in her manner of thinking- I know I want my daughter to act like a lady, no matter what the situation. Juliegal is right this lady is trash!
7Every preteen girl is embarassed by their parents, but this woman is so deluded (and looks like she got hammered at that party her daughter was at!!) and is convinced she's this MILF which she clearly isn't. Watching her dance and kiss on her husband at that party was so painful to watch.
8Oh, also, you send your daughter to probably the ritziest school that money can buy, and get her pearls of all things, and act offended that she's acting adult??
9This was horrible. The O.C. wives were far more entertaining. And next to these brats seem more modest.
10I love to watch the Real Housewives of the OC. They do outrageous things sometimes, but at the same time they have it so much more together. These women in NYC wow are too much. I felt so bad for Avery it's hard enough when you are a pre-teen none the less your mom is acting like she 16!!! I'm only 27 and if my child were around I would not go as far as Ramona. I don't think I act like that child or not.TOO MUCH.
11i like the o.c. moms but the n.y. ones are not entertaining and need to get a real life.
12I love Real Housewives of OC, but the women of NY are soo nasty and elitist and just... awful! I mean, it's fun to watch, but geez! Ramona takes things a bit far, but I wouldn't be surprised if she's hamming it up a bit for the cameras, especially as this is the first episode. Not that I expect her to tone it down. Poor Avery.
13I agree the wives of OC were fun to watch these NY wives are just super snobby.
14I still have to take shows like these with a grain of salt. I have no doubt that these families are absurd, but so much is staged and pushed to the extremes, I really can't waste time getting annoyed over it.
She's just acting how they want her to act!
15all preteens and teens alike are embarassed by thier parents, BUT watching this it was more on the terms of mortified and disgusted. My mom used to sing in the car while carpooling the neighboorhood kids home and i would laugh and smile and "mooooooom" her into stopping thats embarassed...if she would have picked me up wearing a trashy outfit talking about stripping and listening to Flo-rida and trying to sound hip singing "apple bottom jeans" i would have been mortified and disgusted.
All the moms, O.C. or N.Y. are preoccupied with staying young, staying rich (ie married to rich) and acting the fool whenever possible. I dont LIVE for the show, i usually catch it on reruns here and there and usually watch because I am so happy I am not surrounded by anyone like that.
