One of the perks of being pregnant is being able to eat till your heart's content without anyone giving you the old stink eye.
Celebrity chef Giada De Laurentiis is expecting her first child and chatted about her cravings at the South Beach Wine and Food Festival in Miami.
She told People:
I used to crave sweets before I got pregnant. You know, chocolate, cookies, cake. I've normally got a really big sweet tooth, but not now this baby just wants meat.
I craved fruit. What did you crave?

It varies week by week. For a while, I was craving anything gummy (gummy bears, licorice, etc.) Last week it was toast, and this week cereal.
1With my first son, I craved all the stuff I used to crave pre-pregnancy. Mexican food (the spicier the better), chips and meat. With the second, it was chocolate and meat. All I wanted were burgers!
2I didn't have any cravings. I just enjoyed more of my typical favorites foods--chocolate, pizza, pasta, etc. without as much guilt.
3Peanut butter. Lots and lots of peanut butter. I was out of control with it.
4Hershey Kisses and big bowls of cereal with a lot of milk.
5For the first 6 months I craved ranch dressing. I ate it on everything!!!!! My last 3 months all I wanted to eat were Cherry Turnover's from Arby's.... No wonder I gained so much weight!!!
6chicken arrabiata hero w/balsamic dressing on the side for dipping!!! from a pizzeria near my old office that i hadnt had in the four years i'd been working at my new office. they wouldnt deliver it on my lunch break because it was 20 blocks away (nyc)... i'd take the subway to get my lunch. (they did offer to deliver it after three oclock when i think i was about 7 months) ha
7blueberries
8Food. I wasn't picky
9Potatoes. Mashed, roasted, french fries. Anything potato I wanted it.
10Lemonade,iced tea,ice cream,chocolate,strawberries with chocolate,marshmallows,and a lot of food! everything
11I didn't really crave anything, but I could not stand a few things I normally liked.
12Right now I'm craving oranges. I have a sense of smell like a bloodhound right now, and I can smell an orange 50 feet away. Also craving a glass of cold milk, baked goods, and red meat. If I somehow make it through the next 7 months without gaining 100lbs I'll be amazed.
13I could not get enough of green olives, stuffed with almonds, in chardonnay. I had to have at least two jars at all times. (One at work, one at home.) After my son was born? I can not stand them!! Go figure...
14my first trimester i "craved" qdoba because it was the only thing i knew wouldn't make me sick. i was nauseated 24/7. one day i drank 12oz of OJ in about 20 seconds, and i *hate* orange juice (still do). after that, it was beef - the more-rare the better. walking by a butcher's case had me drooling. i did my best to order it as cooked as possible, and learned which restaurants had the best steak sandwhiches in the city.
the other big one was chocolate. i didn't crave it so much as it just tasted really, really good while pregnant. the cheap stuff tasted as rich as dark chocolate, and the dark? oh my. i also went through an ice cream/milkshake phase towards the end of it all, and cutting back on salt lead me to appreciate olives for the first time in my life.
now that it's all over, beef and chocolate have gone back to "normal" craving levels, but olives are still pretty tasty.
15Citrus Fruits! Then In-N-Out Burger. Then cereal. I ate cereal for every meal for two weeks straight. My husband thought I had lost my mind but it was the only thing I wanted!
16Oh I craved meat too - ground beef as in hamburgers, tacos, sloppy joes - mmmmm! I had random cravings here and there but the meat one lasted almost my entire pregnancy.
17No cravings yet... but tomato sauce is sitting well for some reason... totally throws me for a loop! But after this lil guy comes, you know I'll be dialing for domino's!
18I am still TTC
Send me some dust ladies- you all seem to be blessed in the baby
making department!
19Anything spicy, Big Macs from McDonalds, Sour Skittles. Those are the consistent cravings. I ate Chinese today because I was craving the green beans.
I'm trying to control my weight gain; we'll see how it goes.
20tomatoes
21This week I seem to want milk!
22When I was preggo it was meat (pref.burgers) and I could have a turkey sandwich (sourdough, mustard, mayo, tomato, lettuce, and avocado) for EVERY meal!
23Anything citrus! I love chicken, but I never wanted it during my pregnancy, I always wanted red meat!!
24Raisins, Slurpees, and icky yogurt drinks. In fact, I've never liked much in the way of milk products but while pregnant, I couldn't get enough yogurt, milk, ice cream, cottage cheese, etc. Must've had a calcium need or something.
25when i was pregnant, it was all fruits and veggies.
26my hubby seemed to really like pickles !
I craved lots of things really, but the one constant was tomatoes. I normally am not a big fan, but I could have eaten a big bowl of just plain tomatoes for every meal.
27I really didn't crave anything.
28LaurenG, I'm with you!
29Oranges! It's all I ate when pregnant; all three trimesters.
