I cannot believe someone would buy that!

Some things should not be sold online. But I'm curious to know why so many mom's do it.

I would NEVER buy breast milk from anyone!!!! That's just crazy.

But I'm with DesignRchic, I want to know why mom's would do it.

I remember hearing people talk about this in a mommy's group thing once. Some of them seemed to think it was a good way to stop wasting all the excess breastmilk seeping out all over their sheets and crowding their freezers and at the same time help out some children who would be otherwise getting formula.

I think it's kind of bizarre because a lot of the benefits of breastmilk require actual contact between baby and mom - especially antibody benefits, etc...

But, I have heard of women donating excess breastmilk to NICU units and that seems like a very good thing.

Wait, before anybody flips out, I'm not saying there is anything wrong with children getting formula. I'm just repeating what I've heard. Don't send the after me.

On ABC News not too long ago, I heard about a group doing this internationally. They pumped here and the milk was shipped to third-world countries. It seemed like it was becoming more and more popular, but I really don't remember details.

I think it is fantastic for those in need, but not on the internet! yuck, lmao. if i was in need or wanted to truely help people then I would donate to some type of clinic or hospital.

Ok, that makes more sense. Donating it to people in need, I guess I really just didn't think about it that way.

Yeah, I guess in the ABC News story, the milk was going to clinics or something. Obviously well screened. The internet is a bit crazy.

like jen i've heard of donating breast milk to icu babies, not selling it. i'm sure the hollywood crowd will soon be hiring wet nurses. whatever. i'm not feeding another womans bodily fluids to my baby.

I wouldn't it trust it from just any stranger, but I think it's totally worth doing through a milk bank. There are proven health benefits with breastmilk as opposed to formula, and I would imagine a lot of children could really benefit from it. Personally, I was able to breastfeed my daughter, so I can't say for sure if I would or wouldn't ever do this.

I'm sorry but Craigslist is a place to find free furniture, look for an apartment, or buy tickets to a ball game........not buy your child breast milk from some random stranger who says they're clean.

I've been desperate enough to think about it. I just couldn't produce milk and hated so much giving my baby formula. I'd had a day of donated milk at the hospital, and all the hospital staff kept warning me that I really needed to produce breast milk quickly and how important it was. My baby refused the breast, and I pumped for about 6-8 hours a day, and produced next to nothing. If it had been from a source I could have trusted, I'd have paid anything! But who buys body fluids online?

I'd never buy any online or sell any online... Seriously this is crazy!
If I had excess I'd probably donate to the hospital. But I can't even imagine selling it online... people would think I was crazy! And besides that, I am not going to trust some random person on the internet so why would I expect anyone to trust me?

I knew someone that said when her child was first born he was sick, her milk hadn't come in yet and they wanted to feed him formula so she let her sister nurse him. While it was her sister and all it just seemed weird. Then again I don't have any sisters so maybe I would feel differently if I did.
