While nursing, I had to pump when I was away from my babe to keep my milk supply. Unfortunately, the places I pumped left much to be desired.
I often found myself extracting breast milk in airports, bathroom stalls, closets, and worst of all, cars!
At Dodger Stadium, before a concert, I had to hook up in the front seat of a rental car. Music lovers in neighboring cars puffed smoke and sipped beers as I discreetly hid my "girls" from their view.
What's the strangest place you ever pumped?

Heh. I only pumped for a few weeks and only did so at home, but this reminds me of the crazy places I had to bare my butt for my IVF injections. Same thing--airports, cars, friends' weddings, etc. What we do for our babies!
1I had to pump in a State Office Building Conference Room, cars galore, the conference room at my office, and our house ro any friends house I so happened to be at when the feeling came over me.
2BBQ restaurant bathroom with the walls covered in graffitti and everything. Mostly nice things though as the graffitti is part of their image... but still....
3In the sacristy before my best friend got married, catholic ceremonies are long.
4No kids yet, but I have to comment on that photo! Is it just me or does her head look abnormally large?
5Sitting in traffic (while driving) going to a football game. You gotta do what you gotta do.
6This is probably a weird question...
Is it uncommon to not be able to pump??? I kept trying and trying and I would only get 1 oz and that was IT. I tried 3 different pumps with the same result. I have milk supply - my son is breastfeeding still with no problem.
Just curious.
7Stina829--I found that pumping took practice and that it helped to do it at least an hour after the last feeding. Also, the milk comes out in stages, so I would get 1 oz, pump dry for several minutes, get another oz etc. Even if nothing comes out, it's still helpful to pump for 15 minutes because it gives the breasts the signal to make more milk.
Strangest place--in the car while driving. I found a way to hook the pump into my bra and could pump during my drive home from work.
8Hmmm... Maybe I just wasn't patient enough, lol!!! I'll try it again today and be a little more patient and see what happens.
Thanks for the tip!!!
9stina829 its also best to find a relaxing chair and either have the baby nearby or a picture of him/her to look at to get ur flow started. and the weirdest place for me was in my car in the university parking lot between classes. i was so on alert for peeping male students lol
10I pumped at work in private room, but had to make sure that I had a note on the door telling people not to enter...I had a male co-worker walk in on me...he didn't see anything because I quickly turned my large office chair and started yelling at him. I've also pumped at home in the bathroom and at my mother-in-laws.
11I breastfeed and pumped for only 2 months b/c my supply never came in fully. My daughter was hungry after getting off the breast. I too would pump for up to an hour and only get 1 oz. My mother and and aunt both didn't produce enough milk supply and I guess I got that from them.
As far as where I pumped...I only did it at home until my MIL put my pump in the dishwasher and it got ruined.
12I pumped quite a bit in a hotel room in Stratford, ON, Canada, when I was away for three days when my daughter was only 4 months old. It's not that strange, though. But I, too, had a hard time pumping. I found I got better results when I looked through an album full of her newborn pics.
