Miley Cyrus Unbelted

Since they are in the spotlight, celebrities often bear the burden of being role models. Miley Cyrus, a.k.a. Hannah Montana is the current girl de jour under the microscope. To read about her public gaffe, read more.

The seemingly sweet, Miley recently celebrated the release of her new 3–D movie Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert Tour. And according to cinematical.com, a portion of the film reveals the pop singer and her achy-breaky famous father, Billy Ray, unbuckled in the back seat of a Range Rover en route to a concert rehearsal.

ConsumerReports.org is up in arms over the incident saying,

It seems to us that Miley, her father, and Disney had a perfect opportunity to help influence teens and counteract—rather than encourage—this trend.

While I strongly believe everyone should wear a seatbelt at ALL times, I think it's a tad harsh to spotlight the young songstress for negative behavior when so far, she's been near angelic compared to her Hollywood peers.

Update: Miley Cyrus and her father, Billy Ray Cyrus admitted to People magazine that they goofed:

We got caught up in the moment of filming, and we made a mistake and forgot to buckle our seatbelts. Seatbelt safety is extremely important.

What's your opinion of this seatbelt situation?

I took my daughter to see this movie...she is 9 years old...and I do remember that part of the movie...and to tell you the truth...if you were to ask me after the movie was over if they were wearing seat belts or not...I wouldn't even be able to tell you. I can almost guarantee that all the little girls in that movie theater didn't even realize that she didn't have her seat belt on...they are focus on Miley/Hannah not if she is wearing a seat belt! I think it's a bit harsh for them to spotlight it. Not to say it's not important to wear your seat belt...because it is very important. ConsumerReports needs to find something else to complain about.

Just another over analyzation of our society. I mean - should they have been wearing seatbelts - yes, but like the other poster said - unless pointed out - no one would have even noticed.

And seriously - if they want to bash on someone Spears, Lohan and Hilton are always ripe for the picking!

I agree with the other posters... but I also don't see how you can come down on Miley for it... come down on her father/producers/directors etc.

There's something about this girl that disturbs me. I can't quite put my finger on it though.

i think this girl is adorable! and shes actually sincere about everything she does! she stands up for what she believes, and they want to complain about a seatbelt???? put it this way, this girl is not the next reckless britney spears, so i say, give it a rest!

someone was obviously watching the Hannah Montana movie WAY too closely to have noticed this. it's silly. of course she should have been wearing her seat belt, but if this is her only vice then so be it!!

Seriously kids do have a mind of their own. They are not so completely obsessed that they will not wear a seat belt because of Hannah Montana Its not her responsibility to teach kids to wear a seatbelt it their parents
