Kids and appliances just don't mix. I've heard stories about children hiding in file cabinets, climbing in dryers and losing their hair or fingers to hand mixers. But, now a washing machine has been added to the list with a recent story in the Virginia Pilot.

A four-year-old climbed into his family's top loading washing machine and got stuck. It said:

Donovan Hasseman, who wasn't hurt, was wedged up against the agitator with a knee folded against his chest, while the machine was empty and not running Sunday night, Dover Fire Capt. Mike Mossor said.

To find out what happened, read more.

When his mom couldn't get him out, she called for emergency assistance.

The fire department wound up using its hydraulic "jaws-of-life" tool normally used to remove crash victims from wrecked vehicles to cut through the machine's walls and plastic tub.

The boy was scared, but unharmed.

Do you have a tot appliance story to share?

Jeebus. Shocked Thank goodness he wasn't hurt and it wasn't on! The only appliance story I can think of is that my son opened the oven (when it wasn't on) and put in his little fishing pole from his wooden fishing magnet puzzle. I had no idea and he forgot about it, so the next time I turned the oven on, I completely melted the string and almost set the pole on fire. scared
