Our world has become so casual. So much importance is placed on comfort and fitting in; show respect and dress accordingly. In my opinion, if we are sloppy on the outside it affects our behavior and feeling on the inside.

I'm all for teaching manners but some of her reasoning makes me uncomfortable. To me, having manners is about human relationships, not about building young leaders. Chivalry is fine, but girls need to learn to be equally gracious and supportive to males - the lessons work both ways.

I agree with most of these, especially family meals are really important to me. But I would never have her adress my friends so formally...they'd be sad to go from 'Auntie' to 'Ms'! In Germany there is 'Sie' and 'Du' though, like the French 'Vous' and 'Tu'. She'll know how to properly address adults she doesn't know.
